She has developed a highly successful model to maximize minority participation on multi-million dollar construction projects which has resulted in significant increases in minority and women bidders, minority and women contractors bidding as Prime Contractors and an increase in the contracts awarded to minority and women contractors. A thirty year resident of Austin, Texas, Ms. Garza-Hernandez has twenty plus years experience working with extremely diverse segments of the Austin community, including governmental entities and private sector, community based and neighborhood organizations, with significant levels of public involvement. She capitalizes on over fifteen years experience with City of Austin Departments and systems and over ten years experience in policy making positions. Garza-Hernandez is a proven Facilitator, Trainer, Consensus Builder and Problem Solver. Garza-Hernandez continues her active involvement in community issues, especially those that affect the disenfranchised, through her volunteer work with various groups and service on boards and commissions.
