Sylvia Benitez’s The Way Back is on view through Sunday, October 4th. Come by to see the show in person.
For nearly twenty years, Sylvia Benitez has been captivated by the shifting moods of the Central and South Texas landscape. Preserving this land’s mercurial character drives her work. Rather than realistic renderings, she creates imagined, archetypal landscapes that feel instantly recognizable — working from memory, letting the land’s visual poetry guide her dialogue with the canvas.
Benitez is a widely exhibited, nationally recognized artist and the recipient of numerous awards and grants. She lives and works in Seguin, Texas.
Come see her work through November 1st.

Wally Workman Gallery is proud to announce that we will be at the Affordable Art Fair in Houston this year!
This is the first edition of Houston’s Affordable Art Fair, which will feature over 50 galleries from around the world showcasing original contemporary artworks ranging from $100 to $12,000. Starting in London’s Battersea Park in October 1999, the Affordable Art Fair now holds fairs in 16 cities around the world. Established as one of the world’s leading art events, the Affordable Art Fair has challenged the traditional art fair model since its inception in 1999. By implementing a price ceiling and clear labels on all artworks, the fairs are fun and an approachable entry point into the contemporary art market.
Please come see us at the George R. Brown Convention Center, October 15th - 18th, and see the work of James Andrew Smith, Priscilla Robinson, Julia Lucey and others.
Tomorrow, join us for the opening reception of The Way Back, Sylvia Benitez’s solo show.
Please check our website for parking details and more information about the work.

As We Unmagic the Self is on view through Sunday, September 6th. Lance Myers
In this show, Myers explores youth and the melancholy of its passing. His lush blooms and figures are rendered in a suspended state of perfection, while creatures of decay—beetles, pill bugs, the slow agents of entropy—crawl quietly in the foreground. The tension between these forces is at once poignant and inevitable. Seductive in its beauty, Myers’ work draws viewers into the trance of youth while simultaneously confronting us with its imminent decay, suspending us in this moment of revelation.
Myers is currently the lead animator at Stoic Studio in Austin, where his command of movement and the living figure informs the quiet dynamism of his painted work. He also teaches 2D animation at the University of Texas at Austin.
Come see this wonderful show through Sunday, September 6th. Lance Myers
