I started writing this song during . I had been spending years trying to understand my mixed identity, and strangely the deeper I went, the more isolated I felt. These feelings were amplified by harmful rhetoric from the government. I know a lot of you can relate to that feeling of holding hope quietly. I toured it solo for a while and many of you commiserated with me, shared your stories, and convinced me to record it and put it out. So thank you for that.

Years have passed, but the song feels even more relevant now. Though self exploration has shifted back to community exploration; I think underneath so many of these conversations is something simple and human: everyone is just looking for a place to belong. ♾️

I want to feel like I fit in my skin
I want to feel safe when I walk into a room
I want to belong with the people I look up to
Want to feel like I can have a place to run home to
I want to feel.
