2026, year of the box. So many boxes. Looking forward to putting some oak water in my mouth. Still not enough cheesy gold on that cheesy gold!

Missed opportunity?

A big fan of the original CGF ( flying turkey ), I couldn't help but notice there was a lack of cheesy gold on the newest Archives release....

They sure don't make these like they used to. 1990s Henry McKenna, the very first release of Wild Turkey Beyond Duplication 12yr in 1980 and a 94 Pewter Top Kentucky Spirit. Now which to open first....

It's been awhile, but let's talk about Fierce Whiskers new 3 year release!

First whiff, and you're hit with a subtle dance of oak and pecan, with whispers of vanilla and frosting. Red licorice sneaks in, adding a bit of a twist to the aroma.

The palate, it's corn-forward, no doubt about it, but then comes a zesty kick of citrus and cherry bitters, followed by some oak and a hint of cinnamon. It's like sipping on a corn forward Old Fashioned.

A medium finish with cinnamon and some sweetness like simple syrup, with barely a whisper of heat. Now, for a bourbon aged a mere three years in the scorching heat of Texas, you'd expect a fiery explosion of white pepper and oak. But Fierce Whiskers managed to pull off a surprise. It's like they've bottled up a corn-forward cocktail, with the young notes taking a backseat while citrus and cherry bitterness steal the show.

Over all, while still a young bourbon, this would still do great as a mixer.

Some amazing rums and extremely gracious hosts to be had at the tucked away . I came searching for their Savanna HERR barrel, but was delighted to find the complimentary Velier bottle. Be sure to seek out Bar Lamp if you ever find yourself wandering Ginza for some rare and delightful rums.
