Fall is here (!) up in Coloradoās high mountain passes. Yesterday we drove west of Denver into the Rockies, through Guanella Pass and Boreas Pass to see aspens turning gold. We were not disappointed. š Plenty of trees are still green at lower elevations, including Breckenridge, so donāt worry that you blinked and missed it.

Houston-area friends, this Saturday you can tour a garden featured in my book Gardens of Texas ā the lovely home garden of landscape architect Mark McKinnon. Donāt miss it! Itās a small but mighty garden.
It takes time to make a house feel like home. But little by little weāre adding personality and coziness to our little bungalow, including the white-box den in the basement. Hereās a peek at our progress so far: where we started; my AI-approximated vision for the space (with our IKEA bookshelves built in and painted ā yet to come); hanging mural wallpaper, which took a month of off and on pasting and hanging; our daughter painting a rice paper lantern to match my vision of aspen branches and moths (she NAILED it); the latern hung with a tassel I made; and the view as of last evening. Weāll still be building in those bookshelves for months to come, but itās good to pause and appreciate progress made. āØ Huge thanks to my husband for being such a good partner in my decorating efforts!
