Ashleigh’s story has stayed with us and Big Give San Antonio feels like a fitting time to share it again. ✨
After spending part of her teen years at Upbring New Life Children’s Center, where she worked through trauma and uncertainty about her future, Ashleigh went on to become an emergency room nurse serving the San Antonio community, with dreams of becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Her story shows what’s possible when young people have the support and resources to build a future of their own.

Culture Ambassadors from across Upbring came together this month in Austin for the fourth annual in-person Culture Ambassador Committee meeting. 💫
Representing programs throughout Texas, ambassadors shared perspectives from their teams, connected with Upbring leaders and learned more about the work happening in other parts of the organization.
With 1,500 team members working in more than 100 program locations, Culture Ambassadors help connect people and ideas across Upbring while bringing our core values to life in their programs.

Supporting the health and wellbeing of parents and caregivers is an important part of advancing child wellbeing. 🏡✨
For many families, lack of health coverage, transportation and childcare can make it harder to get needed care. Through Healthy Parents, Healthy Kids, Upbring will help families in our Head Start Preschool and Child Wellbeing Zone programs connect with health coverage, primary care and resources that address these barriers.
The initiative is supported by a $100,000 grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Company through its 2026 Working Texans Economic Opportunity Grant program.
When families face fewer obstacles to care, the impact reaches beyond the doctor’s office. It strengthens the stability children rely on at home and supports healthier outcomes for both parents and children.

Supporting a child’s education is an important part of strengthening their overall wellbeing.✨ Having the right supplies can help students feel more confident in the classroom and give families peace of mind knowing their child has what they need for the school day.
Through our annual Back-to-School Supply Drive, more than 200 children served through Foster In Texas, BeREAL Supervised Independent Living and our Child Wellbeing Zones received new backpacks filled with essential school supplies. Partner organizations, volunteers and community supporters across Texas helped us get those backpacks into children’s hands before classes began, so they could start the year prepared and ready to learn.
