Four roles we worked on over the last few months, and what each one was really about once you got past the job title.
An Integration Engineer a startup could not find. An AI Engineer where the title meant eight different jobs. Six engineers joining a twenty person company without breaking it. And a turnover problem that was never a hiring problem.
None of them started with "send me some resumes." Each one started with a conversation about what the work actually was.

Nearshore is rarely a cost decision. It is a timing decision.
The teams that get the most out of it are not the ones chasing the lowest rate.
They are the ones who spotted a specific signal and moved before it turned into a delivery problem.
Five signals it is time to look nearshore:
- The req has been open 90+ days and the shortlist keeps resetting.
- The roadmap is slipping because of two missing people, not twenty.
- Offshore delivers, but every clarification costs you a full day.
- You need someone to own a system, not fill a sprint.
- The work is funded. The salary band the market wants is not.
If two or more of those sound familiar, distance is not the problem. Overlap is.
That is the whole case for nearshore. Same time zone, same working day, senior engineers who join the standup instead of reading the notes tomorrow morning. Closer than offshore, calmer than hiring in-house.
At Near Contact we have spent 30 years building that bench in Mexico. 700+ engineers across Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City, matched on fit rather than who is free, with an average ramp of nine days.
Which of the five is hitting your team hardest right now? Drop it below, or send me a message and I will share how other teams worked through it.

For the last stretch, these programs have been invite-only.
Not because we were being precious about it. We wanted to run them enough times to know what actually works before putting our name on it publicly. Which leaders engage and which switch off. Where a technical track loses people. What has to change when a room of 30 becomes a company of 500.
More than 80 groups later, we know.
So today we're opening Near Contact's AI training programs to everyone.
Seven programs across three paths: the leaders who decide where AI investment goes, the builders who turn that direction into working systems, and everyone else who has to actually use it on a Tuesday afternoon.
What we learned across those 80 groups shaped all of it. The biggest one: adoption never fails because the technology is hard. It fails because training stops at the theory and nobody builds anything. So every program now ends with an artifact instead of a certificate. A ranked opportunity map. A working agent. A validated prototype. Something the organization keeps.

If you're trying to work out where your teams genuinely are with AI, that's the conversation we like having.

"Staffing company" undersells it.
Yes, we place senior engineers in your time zone, fast. But that same talent also builds your software, runs your cloud, handles your Dynamics rollout, and staffs your help desk.
One team. Your hours. A fraction of US cost.

Nearshore talent is everywhere now. The difference is in how it's delivered.
A lot of companies can send you resumes from Latin America. Far fewer can put experienced engineers inside your team, in your time zone, backed by US contracts and three decades of operating history. That's the line we sit on.
Built on a foundation most nearshore providers don't have
Near Contact isn't a startup testing whether the nearshore model works. We're backed by Grupo Open, a technology group operating since 1995 with more than 700 engineers across Latin America. When you work with us, you're not betting on a new vendor. You're tapping into an established delivery operation that has been building and supporting US-facing technology for years.
Same time zone. Real collaboration.
This is the part offshore can't match. Our engineers work your hours. They're in your standup, in your Slack, and in your sprint in real time. No waiting overnight for a reply. No handing off work into a void and hoping it comes back right. The collaboration feels like an in-house team because, functionally, it is one.
Senior talent, ready in weeks
The average US technical hire takes 44 days and costs $150K or more in base salary. We move faster. Experienced engineers integrated into your team in two to three weeks, at 40 to 60 percent of the equivalent US cost. You get the seniority you need without the timeline or the price tag that usually comes with it.
Certified where it counts
We're a Microsoft Solutions Partner with specializations across the stack, and an AWS Advanced Partner. That's not a logo on a website. It means our teams are vetted, current, and genuinely deep in the platforms your business runs on, from Azure and Dynamics 365 to Power Platform, AWS, data, and AI.
US contracts. US protection.
You contract with a US entity, under US terms, with US insurance. The talent is nearshore, but the commercial relationship is exactly what your legal and procurement teams expect. No cross-border complexity landing on your desk.
We say no when we should
If we don't have real depth in something, we tell you upfront. We'd rather pass on a role than push the wrong person into your team and damage the relationship. That honesty is why our clients keep coming back, and why so much of our growth comes from referrals.
The companies scaling fastest right now aren't the ones with the biggest budgets. They're the ones who found a smarter way to build. Let's talk about what that looks like for your team.
Let's talk →
Nobody puts "empty chair" on a budget line.
But that's exactly what an open engineering role is. A cost that climbs every single day it stays unfilled, just quietly, where finance never sees it.
Delayed sprints. An overloaded team. A roadmap slipping a little further behind every week.
By day 44, the average time to fill a US tech role, that empty chair has cost you more than most leaders ever stop to calculate.
Here's the part worth sitting with: it doesn't have to take 44 days.
Experienced engineers, in your time zone, working inside your team in two to three weeks. The chair gets filled before the number gets uncomfortable.

The logic is hard to argue with: experienced engineers, working in your time zone, integrated into your team, at 40 to 60 percent of US cost. Same skills, same hours, very different economics.
The teams that figured this out early are shipping faster and spending smarter than the ones still posting roles and waiting.

Hiring nearshore isn't a last resort anymore. For a lot of teams, it's the smartest move on the table.
The question is whether you're one of the people who should be looking at it right now.
If you're a founder watching runway disappear into a hiring process that won't close, or an engineering lead whose sprints keep slipping because the team is stretched, the math has probably already made the decision for you.
Same goes for the CTO who needs senior people in weeks, the finance leader watching headcount costs climb, and the TA head losing strong candidates to slow, expensive cycles.
The common thread? None of these are talent problems. They're timing and cost problems. And that's exactly what nearshore solves.
Experienced engineers, in your time zone, at a fraction of US cost.
