Ever watched a one-man band? Drum on his back, cymbals on his knees, harmonica bolted to his face. For ten seconds, impressive. But then you notice. The drum’s behind, the harmonica’s honking, nothing quite sounds good.
That’s you running your business. Marketing, finance, support, ops, all at once, all slightly off.
You know what sounds good? A band. Where each person plays one thing, well.

Your business acts like a toddler at bedtime. The second you try to leave, it needs one more thing. One more email. One more fire at 5:59. One more “real quick.”
It’s not that the work is urgent. Nothing in it was ever taught to put itself to bed. Every loop waits for you to tuck it in.
The fix is the same one that works on toddlers. Build the routine, hand off the bedtime. Build a business that can tuck itself in. You’ve earned an evening.
Delegation gets harder when it’s work you’re really good at.
But sometimes finding someone who’s 80% as good as you is what lets you grow the rest of the business.
The question is: what are you still doing because you have to, and what are you doing because you want to control it?
That’s usually where you should look first.

Every approval, every decision, every question routes through you. So the whole company moves at the speed of one person’s inbox.
The worst part? A bottleneck doesn’t feel like one from the inside. It feels like being needed. But being the constraint and being essential aren’t the same thing.
Stop being the only path the work can take.
