A life saved. A daughter born. A story that came full circle. 💙

We recently received a letter from Kelly Dayana Diaz Martinez in Nicaragua, who received life-saving heart surgery through HeartGift in 2012.

In her letter, Kelly shared her gratitude for the surgery that changed her life and gave her the opportunity to grow up, build a life, and eventually become a mother to her beautiful daughter, Sofia. 🥹

But Kelly’s story didn’t end there.

Sofia was also born with a congenital heart defect and, in 2021, received the life-saving heart surgery she needed.

Two generations. Two heart surgeries. One incredible reminder of just how far the impact of a single surgery can reach. ❤️

Kelly’s letter shows us that when dedicated medical professionals and supporters help provide a child with access to life-saving care, the impact can extend far beyond one life and across generations.
