Inspiring the next generation of forensic scientists!🎓🔬
This week, Forensic Scientist II Kanieka Sisco of our Drug Analysis Unit returned to her former middle school, Colonel Richardson Middle School in Federalsburg, MD, for Career Day. She had the opportunity to share insights about the Drug Analysis Unit and introduce students to the many disciplines within forensic science.
We were also honored to participate in career events at Pine Grove Middle School and Deer Park Middle School, where students learned more about the fascinating world of forensic science and the important work performed by our laboratory.
Thank you to the schools for inviting us to engage with your students and share our passion for forensic science!

Our team hosted a group of graduating high school seniors for a 6-day crime lab shadow experience that allowed them to observe our scientists and participate in hands-on Forensic (4N6) activities!
In one of our activities, we stepped into the world of latent fingerprint processing. From applying powders and chemical reagents to carefully lifting prints with tape, students learned various methods for developing latent prints. We think it’s safe to say... some methods were a little messier than others 😂
