Designers. Furniture partners. Contractors. Old friends and new ones, gathered in the beautiful space at MOI, a whole lot of passion for Baltimore City educators in one room, all sharing one belief: they deserve spaces that reflect how much we value them. We unveiled a new teacher and student lounge at Youth Opportunity Academy on the Harlem Park campus on August 19. Towson University designed it, CK Commercial Construction built it, KI donated the furnishings and Douron handled installation.

HEY FRIENDS, I NEED YOUR HELP!!!! 💛

This year, I’m working on the teachers lounge at Glenmount Elementary/Middle School, which is extra special because one of my closest friends, Rachel Hurley Schuh , is part of this school.

We’re stocking the lounge with coffee, cleaning supplies, and cozy touches to give these educators a space where they can pause, recharge, and feel appreciated.

We are actively under construction, and 100% of the goods and services for this makeover have been donated. Now we’re in the final stretch, and I’d love your help rounding out the last few items that will make this space feel complete.

One staff member wrote: "Wellness is a priority but we've never had the space to follow through."

We're Educator Support Collaborative, a program of The Fund for Educational Excellence

Before we start any project, we ask teachers and staff a simple question: do you use your lounge?

Most say no. It's too far. Too hot. Too cluttered. One teacher told us she'd rather eat lunch in her car.

So we started doing something about it.

We bring together donors, designers, furniture dealers, contractors, and volunteers to turn forgotten school spaces into wellness lounges for Baltimore City educators. A place that says: we see you, we appreciate you, and you deserve this.

Because when educators feel supported, they stay. And when they stay, students thrive.

Ten schools so far. We're just getting started.
