It’s Car Free Day! Celebrate and ride FREE on MTA today.

Skip the traffic. Forget the expensive parking. Just hop aboard free transit TODAY as the Moore-Miller Administration celebrates Car Free Day. Riders can enjoy all-day, free rides on the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), including on MTA’s Local Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway, MARC, Commuter Bus, and Mobility.

The Red Line team enjoyed talking with students and families of Mary Ann Winterling Elementary School at their back-to-school event last month. The team, led by Winterling alum Carl Williams, talked with community members about the project and gave folders, crayons, pens and rulers to students.

We’ve spent the last few months traveling across Baltimore, meeting you in your neighborhoods, sharing project updates, and most importantly, listening to your feedback. Here is a look at what we accomplished together this summer:

Hosted 15+ pop-ups across many neighborhoods.

Connected with people in a variety of places and spaces, from farmers markets and community events to transit stops and Orioles games.

Encouraged the public to fill out the Red Line survey.

What an incredible day at Morning Star Baptist Church in Gwynn Oak! The Backpack Giveaway and Health Expo earlier this month brought students, families, and educators together for a fantastic kickoff to the school year, complete with free backpacks, educator totes, haircuts, and more.

We were thrilled the Baltimore Red Line team could be part of this community celebration. Our team was on-site to connect with neighbors, and we proudly donated about 100 crayon boxes, rulers and pens to help our local students and educators start the year off right. Thank you to everyone who stopped by!

Congratulations to our Summer Interns on completing this year's internship program! 🎓

Over the last six weeks, Red Line Interns gained transportation planning experience and completed a Capstone project focused on station area planning from a youth perspective.

We wish them continued success in their academic and career journeys.

Our Summer Interns have been busy this month! 🚍

They visited a bus maintenance facility to see firsthand how Maryland Transit Administration vehicles are stored and maintained and toured the proposed Red Line corridor to learn more about the communities it will serve, transportation planning, and infrastructure.

They also visited Metro Forward where they learned more about the Metro Integrated Command and Communications Center, transit operations, and the many career opportunities available within the transportation industry.

These experiences offered a valuable look at how behind-the-scenes work keeps our transportation systems running smoothly and how projects move from concept to reality.
