As a healthcare photographer, I love meeting these patients and being able to tell their stories. Here’s some new work for Adventist HealthCare!

After a round of golf on a hot summer day, Paul thought he was suffering from dehydration. Instead, a trip to the Emergency Department at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center a life-threatening heart condition that required immediate care. Within hours, he was receiving treatment from the cardiac care team and beginning his recovery.

Paul remembers not only the fast, exceptional care he received, but also the compassion shown by every member of his care team. Today, he continues to enjoy golfing, walking his dogs and spending time with his family, while focusing on nutrition, moderation and making the most of every day.

It was a real honor to document this doctor and learn more about his story

A doctor’s generosity elevates emergency care to honor his son.

For Connor Gamma, the sky was a door to endless possibilities. Fascinated with birds and their ability to soar, he loved flying remote controlled airplanes and visiting airports with his family. By 16, he took his first solo flight and found his calling among the clouds.

Although Connor’s future in flying ended in 2021, his memory lives on. The rooftop helipad on the new tower at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center was dedicated in his honor—a sacred place where Connor’s life touches each patient as they arrive or leave. The new tower is a magnificent beacon of hope, providing modern advances in design, roomier spaces, and compassionate, high-quality care.

This was a really fun shoot of a really devoted cook. It’s his task to cook for the patients at the hospital and create delicious food that works for everyone’s diet. What a genuinely nice guy!
