It's Truck Driver Appreciation Week! 🚛

A big shout-out to our drivers — Deniz, Angela, Anthony, Antonio, Eli, Ethan, Marcus, Tom, and Dion'zae — for showing up early, keeping safety first, and keeping the job moving. Thank you for everything you do!

In honor of our workers and the Labor Day holiday, Gradeline made the decision to give our employees TWO EXTRA PAID HOLIDAYS this weekend, Friday and Tuesday, on either side of Labor Day.

Most winters, paving work slows down as the holidays approach. Not this year. Our crews were still paving straight through December and into January. Then the ice and snow hit, and we shifted right into snow removal: day shifts, night shifts, around the clock, for weeks on end.

Once the snow finally melted, we headed into our busiest spring ever, largely because of the road damage those storms left behind. And when summer arrived, it brought brutal heat right along with it. Our crews often worked night shifts just to keep jobs moving and get a break from the sun.

It's been one of the hardest working years we've seen at Gradeline, in some of the toughest conditions our crews have faced. And through all of it, they kept an outstanding commitment to safety, with no major safety incidents all year. That's a testament to how seriously our team takes looking out for each other, even when the work is hardest.

To our crews: enjoy the extended weekend. Rest up. You've done incredible work this year. We see it, and we thank you.

Meet the Crew: James, Equipment Operator

At Gradeline Construction we take pride in growing our own, and James is a perfect example. He first joined our crew in July 2017, stepped away in April 2025, and came back to Gradeline this March, bringing even more experience and drive with him.

Our superintendents say it best:

"Team player and always looking to learn new things as well as pass his knowledge onto others. Correct, level-headed attitude. Eager to see a job through. Punctual. Takes the lead."

And his foreman, who's been mentoring James, put it this way:

"I've watched James grow from a 19-year-old kid not knowing what he wanted in life to a young man that knows exactly what he wants, and how to achieve it. He does his best every day, and even when mistakes are made, he owns them, but also learns from them. I've been mentoring James for a while, and you can see the change in him. He handles himself with confidence and strength, so there will be no mistake of who he is and what he wants. So as he's climbing the hill upward, I'm on the downward side so that one day I'll be proud to pass the torch to him, my friend and my brother."

That's the kind of loyalty and growth we're proud to have on our team. James, we're glad you're here!

Shoutout to three of our Gradeline crew: Perri, Justin, and Maddie, for representing us at the Maryland Asphalt Association's 9th Annual Scholarship Blast! 🎯

Over 70 sporting clay enthusiasts hit the range for a fantastic day supporting the Frank P. Scrivener Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps fund a Civil Engineering student at the University of Maryland. Great weather, great people, and a great cause, what more could you ask for?

And a HUGE congratulations to our own Justin Holden, who placed in Lewis Class #3! Way to go, Justin! 🏆

These three are a perfect example of what the Gradeline team is all about......working hard Monday through Friday and bringing that same energy and heart to everything outside the job site too. Work hard, play hard, that's how we roll! 💪
