Hope Ignites Baltimore helps motivated high school students rise above disadvantaged backgrounds. Our goal is to graduate young people who are physically, emotionally, and academically prepared for post-secondary education and productive life, breaking barriers so they can become community-minded leaders. Hope Ignites firmly believes that young people have the power to overcome adversity, realize their potential, and help transform our world. They create these successes when we remove obstacles, support and believe in them, and provide environments and opportunities that build on their strengths.

We're proud to announce our 8th Annual Friendsgiving, hosted by our longtime community partner, Buch Construction, on November 12, 2026.
This signature event brings together business leaders, community advocates, and supporters who share a commitment to creating brighter futures for Baltimore's young people. All proceeds benefit the Scholars of Hope Ignites Baltimore, helping provide academic support, college and career readiness, mentoring, and transformational opportunities that empower students to thrive.
As we prepare for this year's event, we are seeking corporate and community sponsors who want to make a meaningful investment in the next generation. Sponsorship opportunities range from $500 to $10,000 and include recognition through event signage, social media, on-site branding, and event tickets.

Ignite the Year: Help Create the Next Full-Circle Story
As we make our final push toward our Ignite the Year Campaign goal, we want to share a story that perfectly captures the lasting impact of investing in our Scholars.
As a Scholar, Serena found stability, support, mentorship, and a community that believed in her potential. Through Hope Ignites Baltimore, she gained access to opportunities that helped shape her future, ultimately earning a full-ride scholarship to the University of Southern California and graduating with a degree in Psychology.
Serena's story has come full circle.
After graduating from college, she returned to Hope Ignites Baltimore as a Youth Specialist, mentoring the next generation of Scholars in the very program that helped transform her own life. This fall, she continued her commitment to young people as a Teach For America kindergarten teacher.
In recognition of her achievements and service, Serena was honored this year with the Legacy of Hope Award at the Hope Ignites National Leadership Conference, an award celebrating alumni who exemplify educational achievement, career readiness, and a commitment to uplifting their communities.
Reflecting on her journey, Serena shared:
"When the impact is full circle, I have to circle back here."
Her story is a powerful reminder that your support today creates opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

⭐ Meet Shevin ⭐
We're proud to spotlight Shevin, an 11th grader at Loyola Blakefield who brings creativity, energy, and leadership to Hope Ignites Baltimore.
Shevin describes Hope Ignites as a loving community where meaningful relationships are built. One of his favorite memories is a beach trip with fellow Scholars, and he credits his mentor, Mr. Marcus, for inspiring and guiding him along the way.
Through Hope Ignites Baltimore, Shevin has learned to "go all in" and embrace every opportunity. This year, he's especially proud of earning the opportunity to work with our Summer Academy as a Camp Assistant and being selected for a 5-day STEAM + Business Camp, where he explored future career pathways and strengthen his innovation and teamwork skills.
Looking ahead, Shevin hopes to play sports in college and pursue a degree in law and criminal justice or electrical engineering.

Since joining the program in 2021, this 11th-grade honor roll student has flourished as a leader, role model, and active member of her school and community. From her participation as a YouthWorks Summer Camp Assistant to her Youth Sustainability Leadership internship, Amari is already making a meaningful impact, with her work earning recognition in a local newspaper.
She hopes to attend an out-of-state college and pursue a career working with children.

Summer ended on a high note for our scholars!
Thanks to a generous donation from the Baltimore Orioles, our scholars enjoyed an incredible game-day experience from a luxury suite. They took in the action from premium seats, stayed cool in the air-conditioned space, and enjoyed a delicious catered meal while spending time together before the start of the school year.
This memorable experience was more than just a day at the ballpark. It was an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our scholars and send them into the new school year feeling encouraged and supported.

Our Hope Ignites Scholars recently spent an incredible day with Blank Slate Construction & Development Management this Summer for a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build a business and invest in Baltimore.
Scholars heard first hand from founder & CEO Alex Aaron about his journey building Blank Slate, his vision for Baltimore, and the importance of hard work, trust, attention to detail, and being a valued community partner.
They also enjoyed lunch and site tours with Tiffany Martin, Joey Miquel, and Ronal Romero, hearing about their career journeys and the lived experiences that brought them to their roles with Blank Slate CDM today.
Then, they hit the road! Scholars visited several actual projects at different stages—from a home renovation, to a community-informed block revitalization, to Blank Slate’s largest project yet (with an amazing Baltimore rooftop view!), to a business being envisioned and built.
