For a number of years during the early 2000's I shot the resurgence of Burlesque in Baltimore with old film cameras and then processed and printed the photographs. Now I've taken these photos and printed them onto a printable vinyl. I then heat seal that to fabric creating large patches which I then sew onto a quality tote bag creating a unique piece of functional art. It has taken me a looong time to find the right materials and the skills to create this.

I wonder why I loved the darkroom so much... she was a great teacher... a tad strict maybe, but photography was a harsh mistress...

I am so torn as to whether or not I can sell this... When I am making something I am going to sell I have to make myself stop at some point, thinking about how much $ I can get for the energy I am putting into it. Sometimes I just say f**kit... and pour so much energy into something that I just can't ask people to pay what that is worth. These are all hand painted designs that I scanned in and printed onto a vinyl, heat sealed onto fabric, hand sewn onto the bag with other accents painted directly onto the bag. I have spent 2 years developing these techniques and with this bag alone taking an entire day to just put it together... so I think I should keep it... but I have other bags...

MUGS! New stuff to decorate with new toys!

From an idea I had 2 years ago I have finally developed the skills and have the tools to make it a reality... $40 available in all sizes... I can't even begin to describe what I've learned to do with fabric, bleach and paint in the last few years... so many hours playing with different materials... so many hundreds of dollars spent... but it was so much fun!

3 years ago I did my first show... I was using cardboard stencils and I had 1 rack with maybe 15 shirts and a small sign... I now have it all and my skills have improved dramatically... The photo on the right is of the first design I made that I sold (3 shirts!!) with my latest test of all I've learned below it... built from scratch and made up as I went along..

Art is about learning... 3 years ago I began to make shirts using cardboard stencils and bleach with a little bit of paint... I learned a lot... and now I have multiple techniques, so many supplies and I actually can make anything I want. I learned so much about fabric and how to put designs onto all sorts of things... I have had all the fun! Learning is the best thing in life!

I am a Baltimore based artist that makes hand painted shirts and art things with a punk/goth late 1900's aesthetic using bleach sublimation and paints. I love vending in the quirkier venues and events and would love some info on any you guys can think of!
