Emergency aid saves lives in the moment, but how do we help communities build a stable future?
Today in Nairobi, CRS is sitting down with the World Bank Group and partners, Mercy Corps, UNICEF, and the World Food Programme for a special, talk-show style discussion: “From Fragility to Resilience: A dialogue with practitioners on Sudan.” We are moving past the usual presentations to have a real, honest conversation about what it takes to protect families, strengthen local food systems, and safeguard essential social services at a massive scale.
By looking at real-world results from programs like Thabat - made possible through the Sudan Transition and Recovery Support (STARS) Trust Fund - we are sharing lessons that will shape the future of humanitarian work.

For a mother fleeing with her children, the migrant journey is not a route: It is an open wound that grows deeper with each border crossed.
The migrant families who arrive at Casa del Migrante San José in Esquipulas, Guatemala, come in search of safety, survival and hope. They arrive exhausted, sick and afraid, often having lost everything along the way.
For many families, Casa del Migrante San José became an oasis—a place where the body can rest and the heart can let its guard down.
