The story takes you behind the scenes of our site preparation work in Reservoir Hill—and shows what it takes to make room for a new tree.

Over the next two years, BTT is creating 900 new tree wells across Baltimore, primarily in South and West Baltimore. With $900,000 in funding from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, this work is helping us remove old stumps and concrete and prepare sites for future trees.

And it’s about more than trees. The story also highlights the people doing this work and the green career pathways being created along the way. 🌳

Baltimore Tree Trust team had a great time at the 2026 Urban Tree Summit!

We’re bringing home new ideas on technology, tree equity, public health, long-term tree care, and stronger community partnerships—along with new connections across the urban forestry field, including seeing some former BTT

October is the time of , crunchy leaves, apple c***r, and most importantly ! We are super excited to announce that our fall tree planting spree will be at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. On Saturday, October 24th join us in planting trees in the parks of the Zoo. Make a lasting environmental impact while connecting with other volunteers dedicated to growing Baltimore's tree canopy.

Bring a friend, bring a loved one, bring bug spray! We'll have signs and directions towards the entrance to lead you straight to us.

Hey look we're on tv!

Thank you again to WMAR'S reporter Taylor Epps for shining a light on the impactful work we get to do here at Baltimore Tree Trust. Restoring Baltimore's tree canopy is not just a want it is a need. are infrastructure offering cleaner air, cooler air, and less flooding to neighborhoods that historically have not had access to these benefits. As our Sir Director of Neighborhood Forestry Dr. Kliffi Blackstone said, "A lot of areas that are ignored are being acknowledged by us. There are neighborhoods that specifically want trees, and they're desperate for them, and they just need support."

That slight chill in the air lets us know is here and October is on its way! This means our Park Heights Nursery will be moving very soon and some planting goodies will be available.

Have a you've been meaning to start up? Your backyard looking like it's ready for an ? If this is you, join us on Saturday, October 17th at 10am to get your hands on native plants, , and garden supplies for prices you won't see anywhere else. With all of these great finds, be sure to get there, while these goodies still last!

On Wednesday, October 14th we will be at our Park Heights Nursery digging up native plants to prep for our that Friday. Registration to volunteer is closed but there might be more opportunity to dig up some more native plants on Saturday.

Today marks the first day of our Fall 2026 planting season! Our crew is hard at work to ensure City’s tree canopy is growing and protected. At Baltimore Tree Trust we understand how vital trees are to our communities. They combat the urban heat island effect, clean our air, and help control stormwater. Trees are public health infrastructure. That’s why a healthy tree means a healthy community. Focusing on neighborhoods with the least amount of tree canopy is integral to our work. Fall planting season is underway!
We kicked things off at Harlem & Dennison – William Donald Schaefer Park in Edgewood, planting 15 new trees in partnership with the White House Historical Association to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the David M. Rubenstein National Center for White House History.
River birches, gray hawthorns, bald cypress, and oaks will bring shade, beauty, habitat, and environmental benefits to the neighborhood.
We’re grateful for this investment in ’s urban forest—and excited to plant at least 1,000 more this fall!
