Finding a New Normal

On August 16, 2010, Ed Slattery and his family's lives changed forever when a truck driver fell asleep behind the wheel killing his wife, Susan Slattery, and disabling their youngest son, Matthew. Miraculously, Matthew defied expectations in his recovery from traumatic brain injury with the help of rehabilitation and is now wheel chair bound. Along with growing up with a sister, Jamie, with Cerebral, Ed Slattery now has a permanently disabled 17 year old son who he is the full time care taker of. With his 30+ years of history and involvement in the disabled community, Ed has seen the substantial gap between the need for and the supply of accessible environments and daily living aides. Throughout the years, Ed has seen very little be done to advance this market and decrease this gap which is what motivated him to start FANN. Outside of optimizing and developing new daily living aides, FANN's primary reason for being is to raise the money and resources required to go into the homes of disabled individuals and help them make the modifications they need in order to increase accessibility within their own homes.
