As we head into the traditional close of the summer season, many families are getting ready for cookouts and quick getaways over the holiday weekend.

As thunderstorms and heavy rain continues to sweep across Pennsylvania, this April 1898 image of the 15th Regiment echoes the same mood. The bleak sky and the smoke hanging low in the company street reveals just how storms shaped daily life in their camp.

For those who have ordered a shirt, we’ll be sending final numbers to production on Wednesday. Shirts will ship as soon as we receive them.

August 27th, 1879, the Keystone was adopted by the Pennsylvania National Guard.

They Keystone has long been associated with the Militia and National Guard of Pennsylvania.
The State’s nickname “The Keystone State” denotes its gographic location as well as it’s importance politically, socially, and economically in the early years of the nation.

On this day in 1879, the state codified that connection officially with the National Guard, for the first time designating the Keystone as an official badge worn by members of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Later in 1918 the 28th Division would adopt it as their official Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI). Pennsylvania Guardsman of the 28th Infantry Division 55th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, 28th ID and 213th Regional Support Group all wear a variation of the Keystone today as their SSI continuing a long tradition that began in 1879.

We’re almost there! The shirt campaign ends in under a week, and we’ll place the full shirt order next Wednesday.
