This Summer, Baltimore's creativity took center stage. This year's 410 Fest brought together local artists and audiences for a vibrant celebration of the city's creative spirit. We presented three new plays by three Baltimore Playwrights:

Who’s Been Giving Out Plan-B at the Library? by Jalice Ortiz-Corral
RIOT by Ty’Ree Hope Davis
A Beautiful and Interesting Disease by Madeline “Mo” Oslejsek

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable day of music, performance, food, and community as we celebrated the talent that makes Baltimore shine.

Lena Waithe speaks on the first time she read Bocking by Preston Crowder.

"As part of our humanity is what we do when no one's looking and the s*x we have is often secret because there's shame sometimes of what we desire..."

Presented by Lena Waithe, Bocking is a bold new world premiere comedy from Preston Crowder that exposes our secrets with humor, compassion, and heart—and reminds us that those very things are what make us human.

Directed by Stevie Walker-Webb, Bocking is a scandalous satire where family secrets, public image, religion, and one mysterious chicken collide in a fast-paced comedy that refuses to behave.

We're also excited to welcome Lena Waithe back to Baltimore Center Stage as the presenting producer, following the acclaimed world premiere of trinity. Her continued partnership reflects a shared commitment to championing bold new voices and fearless storytelling.

This is how we kick off our 2026/27 Season: with a play that takes risks, pushes boundaries, and reminds us why new work matters.

UNVEILING OUR 2026/27 SEASON ARTWORK:
August Wilson's King Hedley II
Mar 11 - Apr 11, 2027

One of the most powerful and least frequently produced works in August Wilson’s American Century Cycle, King Hedley II is a rare opportunity to experience a profound and deeply human American classic on stage.

Set in 1980s Pittsburgh, the play follows King, a man determined to build a future in a world that has given him few tools to succeed. As he struggles to reclaim dignity, stability, and purpose, Wilson lays bare the cycles of survival, love, and violence that shape a community and a nation.

Part of the citywide Baltimore August Wilson Celebration, this production continues Baltimore Center Stage’s enduring commitment to Wilson’s legacy and to stories that illuminate the complexities of Black life in America.

Starring Maryland Poet Laureate Lady Brion.

This is a landmark work from one of the greatest American playwrights of all time. Don’t miss it.
