Nick and Amanda found Parity by accident. They showed up for an open house in West Baltimore, learned it was somewhere else, and a neighbor pointed them down the street. As Amanda says: “It was kind of a surprise to find Parity at all. We are so thankful.”
That house is theirs now. Some weeks ago, they filled it with family and friends and had everyone write on the studs before the walls went up. Nick summed it up perfectly:
“Parents brought snacks. It was just a lot of people running around and enjoying themselves, mostly being silly and putting up little messages. Some of them were nice uplifting ones, but for the most part it was people goofing around. It was a fun mood.”
This is what Parity house blessings are for: to fill the house with good vibes and wishes, so those can also be part of the structure.
A big thank you to Healthy Neighborhoods and the Baltimore Vacants Reinvestment Initiatie (BVRI) from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development whose work on the 3.5% rate put this house within reach.

Saturday, October 3: we’re cutting the ribbon on The Sacred Place at Matriarch Park. We want to celebrate this milestone for West Baltimore with you and our partners.
None of this happens without , whose belief in this block made this park possible. They also offered a bench with a community journal, so people can sit down, enjoy the space, draw or write and leave a message to next person sitting down.
But this park really came from the neighbors. People on this block came to the meetings, said what they wanted and with shaped the design. On Saturday we finish it together: planting a tree and building bee hotels and bird houses to put up in the par, with assistance from .

85 runners from six Baltimore run clubs came out to Druid Hill Lake for Runners Run´s Rep Your Run Crew event and we were proud to be there as a sponsor. 🏃🏽♂️🏃🏽♀️
Baltimore has a big running community, with clubs going out for weekly runs all over the city. Rep Your Run Crew brings them together for one day, with a purpose. Runners chose a 5K or 10K around the lake, about a dozen vendors joined in and a local nonprofit received $1,500 to support its work.
We brought our living room photo booth. People stopped by to take pictures and share a moment with their loved ones and their community. That’s at the core of our work.
At Parity we sell homes, but we also want to lift up the block, the city. We want our vision to be shared with everyone and that means being there with the clubs and groups that bring people together. Thank you to every runner, club and vendor who made that day happen. 💛
Meet Ako, one of our first home buyers. The sense of belonging he speaks about is our underlying strength: It makes sense, because it’s more than just real estate and vacancy; we build homes, but we also build a community.
It’s been over four years since Parity started on its mission to bring sustainable development for the community in West Baltimore. We want to look back and honor those who have been with us since the beginning and remember their journey to home ownership. The work continues.
