Because yes, I have a school to run… but I’m going to put that fit ON before I do it.

Y’all have NO idea what the ladies in the front office deal with on a daily basis. 😭

The phones.
The parents.
The paperwork.
The “I just have a quick question…”
The emergencies that somehow become THEIR emergencies.

And somehow, they still know where everybody is, what everybody needs, and probably what happened before I even hear about it. 😂

I don’t play about my secretaries. We protect the front office ladies AT ALL COSTS. 😂

Because if they ever decide they’ve had enough?

Baby, we might as well close the school. 😭

On September 17th at 7:37 AM, my speaker went home to be with the Lord. You all haven’t seen her much, but this speaker provided morning joy for folks who entered my school’s doors everyday. She blasted music so loud you could hear it in a two block radius. She’s began providing musical joy beginning in 2023. Since then, she has provide music for classes, celebrations, events, and even a few assemblies. Speaker lived a good life serving in her full purpose: make certain that music was only heard, but felt.

She is survived by Alexa and JBL. We will miss her. Please send prayers of comfort at this difficult time.

The struggle.
The sweat happening INSIDE the costume. 😭

But listen… a little fun never hurt anybody.

If the kids are laughing, I’m probably somewhere nearby making a fool of myself. 😂

Week 2 as a solo admin and apparently…I’m every woman. 😂🎶

Being the only administrator in the building will QUICKLY have you questioning how many versions of yourself can exist at the same time. 😭

But I’ve also learned that solo admin does not have to mean solo leadership:

You build capacity.
You put strong systems in place.
You make sure people know what they can handle without everything having to travel through the principal’s office.
You trust people to lead.

Because the goal isn’t for me to be everywhere. The goal is to build a school that can function well even when I’m NOT everywhere.

Now excuse me while I go be every woman for the rest of the day. 😂

Any other solo admins out there? How are y’all making it work?

I can’t be the only principal who started investigating ONE incident and somehow ended up with the entire director’s cut with a side of their family history. 😂

I asked one question… ONE.

And suddenly I know who likes who, who broke up with who, what happened at lunch three weeks ago, who has a secret group chat, and why somebody’s cousin is apparently involved.

Meanwhile, I’m sitting there like… “Okay… but who threw the pencil?”

Students will give you EVERYTHING except the answer to the question you actually asked. 😂

These are the moments nobody warns you about in school leadership.
