Ask three of your caregivers to walk you through the same protocol and see whether you get the exact same answer three times.
Inconsistent training doesn't announce itself on day one. It shows up weeks later in complaints, survey findings, or a client who switches agencies. It usually traces back to one person who got handed the training role because they were good at the job but was never taught how to teach it.
That's where our next CEU comes in.
Train the Trainer for Non-Medical Agencies, Thursday September 24. 4 CEU hours, in person.

Good morning!

This really spoke to me.
When we talk about caregiving, so much of the conversation centers around what needs to be **done**—medications, meals, appointments, safety, transportation, personal care and all of the other responsibilities that come with caring for someone.
But sometimes we have to remember to look beyond the checklist.
The person we are caring for still needs to feel **seen. Heard. Valued. Connected.**
You can make sure someone has eaten, taken their medication and made it safely to their appointment—and they can still be lonely.
That is something I think we need to talk about more.
Human connection isn't an "extra" part of caregiving. Sometimes sitting down for a few minutes, listening to a story you've already heard, laughing together, looking through old pictures, asking about something that matters to them—or simply being present—can be just as meaningful as everything else on the caregiving list.
And I think there's another side of this conversation, too: **caregivers need connection as well.** When so much of your life becomes centered around caring for someone else, isolation can quietly find its way into your life too.
This is one of the reasons conversations around caregiving matter so much to me and why we continue creating spaces where caregivers and families can learn, connect and know they aren't navigating this journey by themselves.
This article from the National Council on Aging is definitely worth the read. 💛
Older Adults and Loneliness: Why Connection Is Part of Care Home care visits, whether by a paid caregiver or a family member, can meet every physical need but sometimes still leave a person feeling alone. Here's how caregiver Dustin Prestridge gives real attention to the details.

🌿 **Still smiling about Legacy Forum #2!**
Last night reminded me exactly why we created the **Legacy Forum Series**.
Legacy Forum #2 — *Emergency Preparedness: Preparing Today for Peace of Mind Tomorrow* — wasn’t just a presentation. It was a real conversation. People asked questions, shared experiences, responded to one another, and participated. You could genuinely feel that the conversation mattered.
And our Legacy Forum community is growing! We welcomed family, friends, familiar faces, community members, **and people I had never met before.** That meant so much.
This is what we hoped to create through **Compassion by Design**: a space where caregivers, older adults, families, and community members can come together, learn, ask real questions, share real experiences, and leave with information they can actually use.
A special thank you to **Sharron Williams, BSN, RN**, for sharing practical emergency preparedness guidance, and to **Ebony Travis-Tichenor, MBA, PHR**, for guiding such a thoughtful and engaging conversation.
And to everyone who joined us, participated, asked a question, shared a thought, or simply listened — **thank you. You helped make Legacy Forum #2 a success.**
We are proud of what we’re building through Compassion by Design and excited about where the Legacy Forum Series is going.
🌿 **We’re building something special, one conversation at a time.**
**Caring Today. Planning for Tomorrow.**
