Stop by tomorrow as we honor Louisiana's women veterans at the Family Support Center in celebration of National Women Veterans Recognition Day. Celebrated each year on June 12 in recognition of the anniversary of the 1948 Women’s Armed Services Integration Act signing, 2024 is the 76th anniversary of that groundbreaking legislation for America’s military women, granting women a permanent place and an opportunity for a career in the nation’s military.

Four years ago, a Coalition of organizations joined together to make going to court a little easier for family members impacted by proceedings in First Appearance. We could've imagined how impactful or fulfilling these years have been.

Tonight, 68,500 people will fill Levi's stadium to watch the Super Bowl⁠ ⁠ But right now, nearly double that amount are locked in solitary confinement. ⁠ ⁠ Over122,000 people are alone in concrete cells, often for 22 to 24 hours a day.⁠ ⁠ This isn’t rare. Today was one of the best days of meeting our friends, families and neighbors at the 19th JDC First Appearance Family Support Center. Sharing cup cakes and helping with resources. We love the Village.

Last 19th JDC First Appearance Family Support Center of 2025! What a time, what a time, today! We celebrated Day 5 Nia (Purpose) of Kwanzaa with the Village today. Enjoyed cookies and King cake and discussed the power of educating the community on Kwanzaa. We had such a good time we forgot to take pictures.

In addition to and in accordance with the Executive Proclamation 71 JML 2025 issued by, Governor Jeff Landry, deeming December 24, 2025 and Friday, December 26, 2025 to be legal holidays, the 19th Judicial District Court also formally adopts Proclamation 74 JML 2025 and will be CLOSED on Friday, December 31, 2025 and Friday, January 02, 2026.
