Thanks to the phenomenal care from Dr. Daigle and Dr. Boucher at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic,
Hugs and Kisses walked out of the clinic today and are heading to a loving foster home while they await their forever families. 🥹🐾

Just 7 days ago, their fate was unknown. These two precious girls were hospitalized with deadly parvo, fighting for their lives.

They were given a second chance because Mardi Paws sponsored the cost of their hospitalization.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who helped make this happy Friday possible. From a terrifying diagnosis at the shelter to walking out of the clinic and into a loving foster home — this is why we rescue.

Hugs and Kisses will be ready for adoption soon. They are 4.5 month old female Basset Hound mixes. They currently weigh 20-21 pounds. ✨ SPECIAL NEEDS ✨

Where to begin with this story! Tamera came into our local shelter at a week old with her mom and siblings. Mom was very undersocalized and wasn't the most nurturing mother to her litter. After 2 months, the puppies were open to the public and rescue. We pulled the runt, Ranger, and she immediately got adopted. When we were back at the shelter we noticed two puppies who still weren't adopted who we named Tia and Tamera. After a couple of weeks in foster care, we realized Tamera sleeps really hard, no noise could wake her up including kids screaming or dogs barking. We also noticed it was hard to get her attention by words alone. Then came the vacuum cleaner! We can say without a doubt Tamera was born deaf. She will require a home willing to train her a special way to help with communication which will involve patience, consistent routines, and possibly sign language or vibration communication. She would thrive in a home with a companion animal she can look to and follow.

Tamera is about 4 months old and about 10-12 lbs. We think she's a cattle dog mix and should be under 40 lbs full grown.

This adorable 🍊🍋‍🟩🥭🍇 litter will be at PetSmart on Millerville Rd in Baton Rouge TOMORROW for our Adopt Joy Adoption event, 11-2 pm.

These fruity pups are 11 weeks old and about 6-8 lbs. We're not sure what they are mixed with, possible Australian Shepherd mixed with some kind of Wirehaired terrier but odds are they are mix mix mix breed. Two puppies from the litter were born with half tails.

The vet that saw them said they would stay under 30 lbs as adults but we'll say adult size is predicted to be under 40 lbs just to be safe.

Mandy Mango 🥭 is the largest girl from the litter
Gracie Grape 🍇 smallest girl

We're happy to say Abby Apple 🍎 and Cody Coconut 🥥 from the same litter have already found wonderful forever homes!

This handsome little guy just became a TV star! ⭐️ And now that Ranger has had his moment in the spotlight, he has ONE more thing on his wish list…

Ranger was such a good boy during his big TV debut. He’s handsome, sweet, and absolutely ready to steal someone’s heart — preferably someone who will let him be the star of the household forever. 🥹🐾

Meet Aspen, Juniper, Ackbar & Bruce (siblings from 2 separate litters)

They are only 3½–4½ months old, weighing 15–20 pounds. They are BABIES. They should be learning how wonderful life can be — playing with toys, getting belly rubs, chewing on things they shouldn’t, and falling asleep in someone’s lap.

Instead, they are growing up in a shelter kennel.

We need adopters. We need fosters. We need foster-to-adopt homes.

💕 A Wonderful Update on Hugs & Kisses! 💕

We have fantastic news to share!

We visited Hugs & Kisses on Sunday at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic, and we are feeling incredibly optimistic about their recovery. (Thank you Dr. Suzie for the excellent care and for letting us visit.)

The girls are eating and drinking on their own, and when we walked in to see them, they sat up, gave us little tail wags, and even gave us the sweetest little head tilt during our pep talk. 🥹🐾

Those may sound like tiny things, but to us, they are HUGE signs of progress. After everything these two precious girls have been through, seeing those little personalities starting to peek through means everything. ❤️

We know they still have a road ahead of them, but today we are choosing to celebrate the good news. Hugs & Kisses are fighting, and we are right here fighting alongside them. 💕🐾

Please keep those prayers, positive thoughts, and good vibes coming for our girls.

One day at a time. One tail wag at a time. One little head tilt at a time. 🥹💕

Buzz and Jessie are looking for their forever families!

Not the toys. The PUPPIES. And trust us, these two are way more fun than anything you can find in a toy aisle!

Buzz and Jessie are 3.5 month old Lab mixes who are ready to trade their puppy pen for a lifetime of fun, love, cuddles, and adventures with their very own families.

Buzz is our playful little escape artist who was the FIRST of his litter to figure out how to climb out of the puppy pen. Clearly, he has places to go and adventures to have! He is cuddly, curious, and ready to find a family who will love him to INFINITY and BEYOND!

Jessie is a little different. While Buzz may be looking for adventure, Jessie is much more princess than cowgirl. She loves attention, cuddles, playtime, and being adored like the little princess she knows she is. And honestly, we think she deserves it.

These two are ready for families who will give them the best kind of forever: a soft place to land, plenty of love, lots of adventures, and a lifetime of love!

These two sweet girls were at CAA and had been scheduled for transport to begin the next chapter of their lives. They were so close to getting their second chance.

Then came the parvo test.

Positive. 💔

Their entire future suddenly changed. Instead of getting on a transport, they needed immediate medical care—and without someone stepping up for them, their story could have ended very differently.

We couldn’t let that happen. We had to give them a chance. 🐾

Hugs and Kisses are now hospitalized at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic and are receiving the intensive care they need to fight this awful virus.

And we are incredibly thankful to Mardi Paws for helping with the veterinary expenses for these girls. That support is what helps rescues like ours say YES when a dog needs us most. ❤️
