As fire and EMS providers, we freely give our own time and risk our lives to benefit our communities. We must remember our organization has been granted public trust and is relied on by our community. That trust needs to be maintained by us. We should be mindful of how we portray ourselves as public servants and consider the images of our organization and our membership projects in how we speak.

As responders, we can lose sight of the fact that we represent our communities and to be seen as supporting everyone in the community. In this session, we will explore this special relationship with the trust the public gives us and remind ourselves that a little "customer service" and understanding our community can go a long way toward maintaining a healthy emergency services organization.

Last week, Bill Porche and Michael Olinde had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Annual Louisiana Department of Insurance Conference in New Orleans.

One of the key parts of this conference was the panel lineup of Insurance Commissioners from across the south that discussed issues and changes within their respective state.

Chief Robert Roe was an invaluable member of the Louisiana Fire Service and has directly impacted many members who will carry on his legacy of professionalism and dedication.

Please keep Chief Roe's family, friends, and all of Bossier Fire District in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

The Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association is deeply saddened by the passing of Chief Robert W. Roe, Past President of LFCA and Fire Chief of Bossier Parish Fire District #1.

Chief Roe served as LFCA President in 2018 and dedicated 37 years of his life to the fire service, beginning as a Junior Firefighter at age 16. He was a tremendous leader and an important part of LFCA and the fire service throughout North Louisiana.

His leadership, service and friendship touched so many, and he will be deeply missed.

Please keep the Roe family, Bossier Parish Fire District #1, and the entire fire service community in your thoughts and prayers.
