Our mission is to build, support, and advocate for a statewide network of court-appointed volunteers to speak for abused and neglected children.

The Louisiana CASA Association is the statewide association of seventeen local CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) programs in Louisiana. Our vision focuses on community supported solutions that build hope and promise for Louisiana's children. Our goal is that every child in Louisiana has the opportunity to thrive, and our belief is the best way to achieve that goal is through community programs and involvement of individual citizens. A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer is a trained citizen who is appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of a child in court. Juvenile and family court judges implement the CASA program in their courtrooms and appoint volunteers. CASA has been endorsed by the American Bar Association, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention of the U.S. Department of Justice. CASA volunteers offer children trust and advocacy during complex legal proceedings. They help explain to the child the events happening involving the case, reasons they are in court and the roles of the judge, lawyers and case workers. While remaining objective observers, CASA volunteers also encourage the child to express his or her own opinion and hopes about the case. As the state association of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) our mission is to build, support and advocate for a statewide network of Court-appointed volunteers to speak for abused and neglected children. We actively engage in projects designed to enhance CASA advocacy for abused and neglected children. Louisiana CASA provides program support through training and technical assistance; public policy advocacy; professional development; volunteer recruitment support and, awareness, education, and prevention efforts.

Today’s the day, Give A Cup for CASA starts now! ☕💙

A few years ago, a simple conversation about our team’s love of coffee sparked an idea: What if the money we spend on something as small as a cup of coffee could be used to make a difference instead?

And just like that, Give A Cup for CASA was born. From September 24–October 1, we’re asking you to skip a cup (or a few!) and donate what you would have spent to Louisiana CASA. Give one day of coffee, one week, two weeks, one month, or simply give what you can.

Because when we all come together, small acts can add up to a BIG impact for children in foster care across Louisiana. 💙

☕ Skip your coffee. Change their future. Give A Cup today: louisianacasa.org/giveacup

Brewing soon ☕ Tomorrow kicks off our Give A Cup for CASA fundraiser!

Do you have a coffee habit that takes you to the local coffee shop a few times a week? That habit can really add up, but what if that money went toward changing a child’s future instead? 💙

Join us September 24th – October 1st and make your coffee count: louisianacasa.org/giveacup

Last week had the opportunity to visit the CASA program at Family & Youth in Lake Charles as part of our annual Quality Improvement site visits. 💙

These visits give our team an opportunity to connect directly with local program staff, learn more about their current work and priorities, and identify ways Louisiana CASA can provide meaningful guidance, resources, and support.

During our visit, we discussed the program’s current areas of focus, opportunities for growth, and the steps ahead as the team continues strengthening its CASA program. We appreciate the thoughtful conversations and look forward to continuing our work together to support strong advocacy for children and families.

Happy Birthday to our incredible Executive Director, Amanda Moody! 🎉

Today, we’re celebrating the heart, dedication, and leadership behind so much of what Louisiana CASA has become. Through her vision, tireless work, and commitment to our mission, Amanda has helped move our organization forward in incredible ways, strengthening our statewide network, expanding our impact, and creating new opportunities to better serve children in foster care across Louisiana.

Whether she’s advocating for children at the Capitol, lending her voice and expertise to statewide committees and workgroups, supporting our local CASA programs, or rolling up her sleeves to pack bags and load a U-Haul for our next event, Amanda leads with her whole heart. No task is too big or too small when it comes to advancing our mission, and her dedication to this work is evident in everything she does. We are grateful for her leadership, her passion, and the countless ways she continues to move Louisiana CASA forward.

This week we had the pleasure of visiting CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline, Inc in Opelousas as part of our annual Quality Improvement site visits. Serving children in St. Landry and Evangeline Parish, this dedicated team is doing incredible work to provide children in foster care with strong, consistent advocacy. 💙

During our visit, we had the chance to talk about all of the great work they've been doing over the past few months, new recruitment initiatives, and how Louisiana CASA can continue providing support to strengthen their advocacy.

We are grateful for CASA of St. Landry - Evangeline's commitment to children and families and for the meaningful conversations that help us move forward together as a statewide network.
