Theme: The Heartbeat of the Library: Essential Support Staff in Louisiana
Do you have an idea, success story, or practical skill to share? LaSSAL is now accepting program proposals for the 2026 Annual Conference!
This year's theme celebrates the vital role library support staff play in keeping Louisiana's libraries thriving. We invite support staff, supervisors, and library professionals to submit presentations that inspire, educate, and empower colleagues across the state.
We're looking for sessions on topics such as:
📚 Customer service
💻 Technology and emerging tools
🎨 Programming and outreach
📖 Collection maintenance and technical services
🤝 Leadership, teamwork, and communication
♿ Accessibility and inclusion
🛡️ Safety and workplace wellness
✨ Creative solutions and library success stories
Presentations may be educational sessions, workshops, panels, demonstrations, or interactive discussions. First-time presenters are encouraged to apply!
Proposal Deadline: July 31, 2026
Your proposal should include:
• Presentation title
• Presenter name(s) and contact information
• Brief presenter bio
• Session description
• Learning objectives
• Technology or room setup needs

Are you a Louisiana librarian, library worker, advocate, or trustee currently at ALA in Chicago? If so, meet up with us at 8:15 tomorrow (Saturday the 27th) in front of the ALA Chicago skyline photo op near the entrance to exhibits. This should only take 10-15 minutes to start your day with a little Louisiana love in the Windy City!

LLA Members: the KLA/SELA joint conference registration is now LIVE in case you are interested in attending!
SELA is thrilled to be holding a joint conference with the Kentucky Library Association. The conference will be held Monday, October 5th through Wednesday, October 7th, 2026, in Louisville at the University of Louisville Events & Conference Center.
We will be having a SELA Breakfast with awards and new officer installation; this is at an additional cost and available to choose during registration. (Please note the date change from previous advertising, there will be a Pre-Conference on Monday.)
