Join us in the Fellowship Hall this Sunday at 9 a.m. for Sunday School, led by Rev. Jay Hogewood.

Honest to God: When Lament Is All You Have to Offer! : How's it feel to be mad at God? Ask Naomi, or is that, Mara? Is bitterness before the Lord actually acceptable? Let's talk about it. The most lovely story in all of scripture: Ruth (1:14-22).

University United Methodist Church was honored to participate in Baton Rouge Pride as a way to connect with and support our local LGBTQIA+ community. Visitors to our booth made friendship bracelets and participated in a special activity called Hope Notes. They could take an encouraging message of hope and love, then leave one of their own for someone else to read. We were also recognized with an award for having the Most Spirited Booth! Thank you to everyone who volunteered and stopped by to visit us.

Last Sunday was Rev. Katie McKay Simpson's final Sunday at UUMC. The best way to sum it up is that it reflected so much of what it means to be a church community. We celebrated three baptisms, honored the memory of a beloved member, shared encouraging updates during a report from this year's Annual Conference, and marked a transition in leadership as Rev. Katie symbolically passed the stole to Rev. Jay Hogewood. While any one of these moments would have made for a memorable Sunday, experiencing them all together was a meaningful reminder of the ways God is at work through our congregation during this time of transition.

The Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church recently gathered clergy and lay leaders from across the state to worship, discern, and make decisions that guide the ministry and direction of the church. Members of UUMC who attended included Rev. Katie McKay Simpson, Rev. Mary Rachel Moore, Steve Backstrom, and Tommy Damico.
