Deer hunters reminded orange is required by law!
With deer season starting up soon, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is reminding hunters that fluorescent orange is not only an important safety practice, but it’s required by law.

While some hunters are concerned that deer will be alerted to their presence if they wear hunter orange, research into deer vision indicates that while deer see color, they don’t see it the way most humans do.

Deer are essentially red-green color blind, meaning that red, green and orange all look about the same to a deer. Hunter orange does not look much different to a deer than the various shades of green clothing many hunters wear.

Adding hundreds of thousands of vehicles to the roads, both LSU and Southern University are hosting their 2026 home openers in Baton Rouge on Saturday. Local police are deploying large units to the north and south ends of the city to manage the severe gridlock.

Active infrastructure projects, most notably the I-10 widening project in Baton Rouge, are significantly narrowing lanes and leaving zero margin for driver error. The ongoing LSU Lakes Project has also permanently shut down May Street and the East Lakeshore underpass, eliminating historical gameday shortcuts.

Checkpoints and barriers will go up exactly three hours before kickoff around the LSU campus. Streets like Highland Road and Dalrymple Drive will be restricted strictly to vehicles with physical parking permits. Drivers without passes will be forcibly redirected to off-campus streets.
• Waze App Customization: 🚗
LSU Athletics has partnered with Waze to push real-time road closures, barricades, and parking pass routing directly to drivers. Officials stress that downloading the app is mandatory for accurate turn-by-turn navigation.
• Post-Game Contraflow: 🔁
Traffic flow on major campus exit routes will be converted to one-way "contraflow" during the games to move vehicles toward the interstates as quickly as possible.
