Melissa and Adrian do more than just lead at Success Labs, they also lead in the community as organizers for TEDxBatonRouge.
You know what you *should* say when you have to have hard conversations…and yet you still freeze when the conversation gets hard.
This is exactly why in our Leadership Labs, we don’t just teach leadership concepts, but we have you practice them through role-play, working through conversations and decisions you’re facing with other leaders in the room.
You don’t leave with another list of things to try —— you leave having practiced them, built the muscle, and gotten feedback before you have to use it at work.
Our Leadership Labs are currently open for enrollment for our Fall cohort. Spots are limited.

Leadership in Action: Success Labs Partner Melissa Thompson led a workshop on Communication and Behavioral Preferences using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), plus a session on moving from doer to leader, at Shintech’s Supervisor Summit — a day-long investment in leadership for supervisors from across the facility.
Leaders from all areas of the facility came together to grow, hear updates from VP of Manufacturing Danny Cedotal, and invest in their own development. 💡
A few things stood out in the room:
→ Understanding your own communication style — and others’ — changes how you lead.
→ MBTI gave the group a shared language for working better together.
→ Moving from doer to leader isn’t just a skill set — it takes real intention.
Grateful to Shintech for prioritizing leadership development at every level. This is what investing in people looks like. 🙌
Out of every framework covered in this episode, Adrian and Melissa keep coming back to the same two things.
In this clip, they name them directly: how well you actually understand the people you lead, and whether they know it. Every assessment, every model, every framework on the show eventually points back to these two skills.

Oops! We did it again. Success Labs is proud to be named one of the LSU One Hundred Fastest Growing Businesses for the 5th time. It isn’t an accident - this award reflects the trust our clients place in us and the team that earns it again every year. Geaux Team!
Notice how “confident” and “strategic” land differently coming from a woman than a man? So does Adrian.
In this clip, she talks about a pattern she sees constantly in strengths debriefs: women hesitating to claim strengths that could read as bragging, in a way their male colleagues rarely do. It’s not a flaw in the assessment — it’s a bias worth naming out loud.
Adrian’s take: claiming a strength out loud isn’t vanity, it’s clarity.

It takes the same amount of effort to be excellent when you focus on your strengths as it does to be mediocre when you are focused on your weaknesses.
In this clip, Adrian and Melissa make the case for a strengths-based approach: pushing a weakness up to “acceptable” costs far more energy than pushing an existing strength from good to great — and it rarely gets you as far.
