We are so thankful to have been invited to the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe Family Day event in Marksville to talk to tribe members about transportation safety, including child passenger safety and our Buckle Up Phone Down campaign!

Distracted driving accounts for 25% of fatal crashes and 37% of serious injuries in Louisiana (CARTS). These fatal crashes and injuries are preventable.

Whether you are driving to work or dropping off your kids, nothing on your phone is more important than the lives around you.

School has been back in session for a month, and the streets are busy! With more children walking, biking, and waiting for buses, the roads require your full attention. It is critical to remember that under the Louisiana Hands-Free Law, it is illegal to hold a cell phone while driving. In school zones, it is classified as a primary offense and drivers can be fined $250!

Before you start driving, put your phone on “Do Not Disturb”, put your hands on the wheel, and stay alert. Let’s protect our children and keep Louisiana’s roads safe this school year!
