We are so grateful for friends like Geaux Fill the Gap! 💙
They’re once again collecting food and household essentials to help stock the shelves at The Shepherd’s Market. Every box of pasta, jar of peanut butter, and roll of paper towels makes a real difference for the hundreds of families we serve each month.
If you’d like to join their collection, check out the details below. Thank you, Geaux Fill the Gap, for loving our neighbors so well and helping ensure our pantry is ready to welcome everyone who comes through our doors. We are incredibly thankful for your partnership!
School is out and grocery bills are definitely up! Last time we did a collection, it was so successful, so we are doing another 3-week drive! We will again be donating to Shepherd's Market at St. John’s United Methodist Church, a client-first food pantry serving Baton Rouge! The items they most need right now are the following:
Pasta
Mac & cheese
Dry beans
Canned beans
Canned Tomato sauce
Snack items (esp. cookies and crackers)
Oatmeal
Cereal
Peanut butter
Jelly
Condiments: ketchup, mayo, mustard
Diapers
Toilet paper
Paper towels
The mission of Geaux Fill the Gap is to collect and donate household items that are in high demand and not covered by SNAP/WIC. However, we definitely want to fill whatever the greatest need is, so we are adding in the above food goods this time!
Last time we did a collection, it was so successful, and the graciousness of God was on full display! We are so excited to show His love to our community again!
We will collecting donations for the next 3 weeks, then bringing all of our items to Shepherd’s Market!! If God puts it on your heart to donate, we would love to receive any of the goods or money you wish to give! For those wanting to donate monetarily, our Venmo account is 🩵

💛 Earlier this month, members of the Louisiana Chapter of Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR) added a morning of service at The Shepherd’s Market to an already full Annual Conference week.
Conference week is busy and demanding, which makes their choice to spend part of it serving our neighbors even more meaningful. We are grateful for these clergy and laity who put their faith into action. Thank you, Louisiana BMCR! ❤️

🌽🍅 A huge thank you to our friends from Highland Road Presbyterian Church for sharing the bounty of their garden with us! Today they dropped off fresh Silver Queen corn and homegrown tomatoes, and we are so grateful for this generous gift.
There’s something beautiful about neighbors sharing from their abundance. Thank you for helping nourish our community and reminding us that ministry often looks like a basket full of fresh produce and a kind heart. ❤️
