The calm AFTER the storm 💙

We beat yesterday’s storm just in time for this installation! I stopped by this morning for a quick spot check and found myself pausing to take in this gorgeous backyard. A great way to start the day. ✨

So proud of my boy- this morning Craig completed the Camino de Santiago finishing this morning with mass at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela 🤍 We did a rough calculation before he left and figured out it would be like him saying… I’m going to walk back to Fort Worth from Baton Rouge. He starts his “real job” in the fall so this was a perfect window to check a box on his bucket list ☺️

Back where it all began… the best ending to this week was the chance to spend a morning on a panel speaking to the team of amazing teachers and therapists at The Emerge Center. The best part- Christopher came with me and added his own impromptu speech for the staff 💙 If you have a child on the autism spectrum or a friend or a family member is in need of services in the Baton Rouge area, The Emerge Center & School provides life changing service to countless children and families in our area. PS- this is my theme song… prompted to add by Christopher who asked me to please not change out of my sunshine outfit when we came home ☀️

Sharing Christopher’s journey on the autism spectrum has always been an important part of our family’s story. Today, Stephen and I dropped Christopher off at Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida for a two week program- College Edge.

While he experienced many successes during his year at Nicholls State, this new chapter gives all of us the opportunity to compare two different paths: a traditional college experience with autism support services versus a college designed specifically for neurodiverse students.

As always, Christopher is embracing this adventure with courage, optimism, and his signature enthusiasm. Looking forward to his updates (and even better his responses to people) 💙🤗
