Laperouse Kennedy is proud to congratulate Michael Hewitt on being named to the 2026 Texas Super Lawyers list!

Michael represents clients in Construction Litigation and Commercial Litigation at our Dallas office. This marks his second consecutive year on the Super Lawyers list, following seven years (2018–2024) as a Texas Rising Star.

Super Lawyers recognizes no more than 5% of attorneys in Texas each year, based on peer nominations, independent research, and professional achievement.

We are pleased to celebrate this well-deserved recognition and Michael's continued contributions to our clients and firm. Way to go, Michael!

Many contractors do not realize just how much Louisiana roofing laws have changed.πŸ€”
Our latest blog post by our Baton Rouge attorney Erin Bagent breaks down the new requirements around permits, licensing, contracts, and the added risks for anyone working on storm-damaged or insurance-funded properties. These issues often don't surface until payment is withheld or a dispute arises, and by then they can be costly or impossible to fix.

Congratulations to Ted Laperouse and Mackenzie Walters!πŸ‘

The arbitrator in a vigorously contested arbitration dispute between a roofing subcontractor and the general contractor on a project for the US Army Corps of Engineers handed down an award in favor of our client in excess of $410,000.00 this past week.

The dispute centered on a misinterpreted engineering note and the contention that the prime contractor inhibited and prevented the client from performing its anticipated contract obligations.

The prime contractor had initially filed its own claim for more than $1.5 Million after it wrongfully terminated the roofing subcontractor, but the award denied any affirmative relief on such claim.

Laperouse Kennedy, P.C. is proud to have delivered such a win on behalf of one of its most-cherished subcontractor clients and its surety.
