Congratulations to Assistant Chief Jason Graphia on an outstanding showing at the Battle of the Badges Fishing Tournament at Doiron’s Landing in Morgan City!

Chief Graphia finished 2nd place overall and took 1st place in the First Responder category.

The tournament was hosted by the Thin Line Fishing League and brought together competitors for a great day on the water.

Congratulations to BRFD Fire Equipment Operators Brennan Hood and Jacob Causey on completing the School of EMS Paramedic Program sponsored by East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services and earning their paramedic credentials.

Fire Chief Michael Kimble joined them at the September 17 graduation as they marked this important milestone.

We’re proud of their hard work and dedication, and grateful to East Baton Rouge EMS for the training, support, and partnership throughout the program.

On a day when we pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, we’re especially grateful for the support our community continues to show the men and women who serve our city.

BRFD is proud to recognize the promotion of Melvin Martin to Fire Equipment Operator. 🚒

Martin joined the Baton Rouge Fire Department in June of 2014 at the age of 28, beginning a new career in public service after working as an electronics technician. As a first-generation firefighter, Melvin says that his decision to enter the fire service was inspired by something he saw throughout his childhood. His parents had a heart for helping others and regularly gave their time to help people in the community, instilling in him the same spirit of service.

Now, more than 12 years into his BRFD career, Martin is looking forward to learning and mastering another aspect of the fire service while passing that knowledge on to younger firefighters.

Congratulations, FEO Martin, on this achievement and your continued service to the City of Baton Rouge.

BRFD is pleased to recognize the promotion of Aaron Samson to Fire Equipment Operator. 🚒

Samson joined the Baton Rouge Fire Department in 2014 at the age of 29, making a career change from construction to serve the community he called home. Inspired in part by his older brother, Allen Samson, who served with East Baton Rouge EMS, and by his own desire to help others, he began a career that has led to this next step with the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

In his new role, Samson says he is especially looking forward to mentoring younger firefighters and helping them grow in their careers.

🚒 Congratulations to Assistant Chief Scott Beall on his retirement from the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Chief Beall began his career with BRFD in July 1996 and dedicated the next 30 years to serving the citizens of Baton Rouge and the members of this department.

From his early days as a firefighter through his service as an Assistant Chief, Chief Beall built a career marked by dedication to the department and the community it serves.

As he retires, we thank Chief Beall for three decades of service, dedication and commitment to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Congratulations, Chief Beall, and thank you for 30 years of service. We wish you and your family all the best in retirement. 🎉
