Call for Artists: I-110 Public Art & Placemaking

The Walls Project is seeking professional muralists and artist teams to create a coordinated series of public artworks beneath I-110 between Louisiana Avenue and North Boulevard in Baton Rouge.

Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts’ Our Town program, this project will bring artists, residents, and local partners together to help transform the corridor into a more welcoming and connected public space, one that reflects the people, stories, and culture of Baton Rouge.

Artist fees: $5,000–$20,000 per installation
RFQ deadline: October 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST
Installation: Summer 2027

Applicants must be 18+, have experience with exterior murals or comparable public art, and hold a valid OSHA Boom Lift certification through 2028.

No original design proposal is required at this stage. Artists may submit their existing portfolio and qualifications for consideration.

MLK FEST 2027: 10 Years of Service

This January, The Walls Project will lead a month of service projects across Baton Rouge, and we need your nominations.

Recommend an elder home, vacant property, public space, business, or neighborhood area needing cleanup, beautification, public art, or minor improvements.

Submit by September 30.

Projects are selected based on need, safety, feasibility, access, resources, and community impact. Submission does not guarantee selection.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: Mid City + Old Goodwood Art Walk Trail

The Walls Project, Mid City Merchants, and the Old Goodwood Crime Prevention and Neighborhood Improvement District are seeking one or two artists or artist teams to create original artwork for 10 utility boxes throughout Mid City and Old Goodwood!

Up to $5,000 in artist design fees ($500/box)

Digital design commission (printing + installation handled by Walls)

Emerging + established artists welcome

Artists will create bold, original designs inspired by the culture, history, architecture, people, and ecology of these neighborhoods.
