One of the things we love most about Louisiana is that people still know how to talk to each other.

You stop, catch up, ask about each other's families, and a five-minute conversation turns into twenty.

There’s something really good about living in a place where relationships still matter, and we hope that never changes.

If this is your first Annual Enrollment Period, you’re probably hearing tons of Medicare talk right now and, it can feel very overwhelming.

So instead of throwing another list of things you “need to know” at you, we wanted to start at the beginning.

What is AEP? Why does it matter? What are you actually supposed to do during it?

Our own, Brenda Parks broke it down in less than 3 minutes to make it easy to understand and prepare.

We’ve helped so many people walk through their first AEP, and we promise that you don’t have to become a Medicare expert to get through yours!

If you have any questions, ask us! Drop them below, send us a message, or give us a call.

This is exactly the kind of question we hear when people start looking through their ANOCs! ✉️

But the first thing we'd want you to know is that the medication itself may not have suddenly gotten more expensive. There are a few things you want to look at:

1. Did your plan move that prescription to a different drug tier?

2. Did the plan change how it covers that medication?

3. Is your pharmacy still one of the plan’s preferred pharmacies?

4. Is there another version of the medication your plan covers differently?

This is why we tell people not to look at their ANOC and only ask, “Did my premium change?” because sometimes the change that matters most to you is actually buried a few pages deeper.

If you want to find out why the RX cost changed and what options you actually have, reach out to our team today!

This is the question we wish more people asked before AEP begins. ⬇️

"What actually changed for ME this year?"

Once AEP gets here, there's so much noise. You're getting tons in the mail, you're constantly seeing ads, and friends are telling you what they chose.

But not every change matters to you!

Did your prescriptions change? Are you seeing a new doctor or specialist? Are you using your healthcare differently than you were last year? Have your costs changed? Is there something about your current coverage that isn't working as well for you anymore?

These are the conversations we want to have with you before we ever talk about whether another plan makes sense, because AEP isn't about finding the newest plan or making a change just because you can, but about taking a look at where you are now and asking:

"Does what I have still work for the life I'm actually living?"

If you don't know the answer to that, that's okay! Bring us what you have, tell us what's changed, and we'll help you make sense of it. 🙂

Did you recently get something called an ANOC, but you have no idea what to do with it? 🙃

ANOC = Annual Notice of Change. This is a document sent by Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. It breaks down the coverage and cost updates for the upcoming year that you'll see.

But it's honestly very difficult to make heads or tails of! So, let us help. Bring in your ANOC to any of our local agencies, or give us a call, and we'll walk you through it.

If you have a Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan, you may be getting an important piece of mail soon, and that's your Annual Notice of Change, or ANOC for short. It's not spam, and you don't want to throw it away.

Your ANOC explains what is changing with your current plan for the upcoming year. You don’t have to read every word from front to back, but there are a few things we always recommend checking:

Your costs: Are your premium, deductible, copays, or other out-of-pocket costs changing?

Your prescriptions: Are the medications you take still covered? Have they moved to a different tier or changed in cost?

Your benefits: Are things like dental, vision, hearing, transportation, or other extra benefits changing?

Your coverage: Are there changes that could affect the doctors, pharmacies, or services you regularly use?

Even if you’ve loved your plan this year, don’t assume everything will stay the same next year. Plans can change from one year to the next, and your ANOC is your heads-up.

Not sure what yours means? That’s exactly what we’re here for. Bring us your ANOC, and we can help you understand what’s changing and whether there’s anything you need to do before the new year!

September is National Life Insurance Month, and if we could sit down over a cup of coffee right now, here are 5 things we'd love to share with you about it. ⬇️

1. Life insurance through your job may not follow you when you leave. Employer-provided coverage is a great benefit, but depending on the policy, you could lose it when you change jobs or retire. It’s worth knowing exactly what you have rather than assuming you’re covered for the long haul.

2. Your beneficiary designation can matter more than what your will says. This surprises a lot of people. Life insurance generally pays the beneficiary listed on the policy, so keeping those designations current is important, especially after a marriage, divorce, birth, death, or other major life change.

3. Some life insurance policies can provide benefits while you're still living. Depending on the policy and its riders, you may be able to access a portion of the death benefit in certain circumstances, such as a qualifying terminal or chronic illness. Life insurance isn't always exclusively about what happens after you die.

4. You can have more than one life insurance policy. Life insurance isn't necessarily a one-policy-and-you're-done situation. Some people carry multiple policies for different needs or periods of their lives, assuming they qualify and the total coverage is financially justified.

5. Life insurance generally isn't something you should set up and completely forget about. You don't necessarily need to change it every year, but it's smart to periodically make sure the coverage amount, policy type, and beneficiaries still make sense for the life you're living today.

If any of these things have sparked questions for you, we'd love to help. Reach out anytime at wemakeinsuranceez.com.
