The best part of the NOLA Water Summit? The young people in the room.
They asked brilliant and challenging questions.
Grateful to The Water Collaborative for the opportunity to talk public service, environmental challenges, the future of our communities, and how we keep our head up during these times.
The Saints didn’t win, but we rolled strong uptown with the YMO second line. Many come and go. But we are here to stay.
We cannot claim to live in a post-racial society while applying different standards of justice depending on who is involved.
I was honored to be the keynote speaker at the Lake Charles NAACP Freedom Fund Gala, where I spoke about the death of Nolan Wells, the persistence of racial double standards, and why organizations like the NAACP remain necessary in 2026.

Honored to spend this past weekend celebrating two incredible milestones: the 10th Anniversary Show of Love Gala for the Split Second Foundation, and the 25th Anniversary Gala for Innocence & Justice Louisiana - formerly IPNO, an organization I’m deeply proud to serve as a board member. Forever grateful for the champions leading these movements and everyone who supports this crucial work.

I’m excited to be joining the 2026 NOLA Water Summit as a featured guest on Waterside Chat. Join us on Friday, September 18 at 9:30 AM as we dive into two water-quality bills passed this legislative session and why civic engagement matters ahead of this fall’s elections. I hope to see you there! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/second-annual-nola-water-summit-and-gala-registration-1996920607292”
Thank you to everyone who’s shaped who I am today!

Honored to do the coin toss at this year’s Wayne Reese Sr. Classic. Nothing tops a Friday night witnessing the school historic pride of .lions and compete under the lights while honoring the legendary Coach Wayne Reese Sr. 🏈✨
Jerome Smith did the unpopular thing. He sacrificed for righteousness. A national treasure.
It’s no surprise that the overwhelming majority of Americans support organized labor! 💪🏽
Today is not just a day off. It’s should be a reminder to thank organized labor for the 40 hour work week, paid family leave, weekends, and so much more.
