Why Butterflies?

To the delight of little ones, butterflies can be found throughout my book, What a Gift Different Can Be. My good friend Cheryl, a first grade teacher, recommended that I put something in the book that the children could look for…and so I chose butterflies.

But why butterflies? 🦋

To me, butterflies represent hope, possibilities and new life!

When I think of hope, as it pertains to this book, I think of the hope we can have for understanding, friendship and kindness.
When I think of possibilities, I think of the endless possibilities for a child when they feel seen and considered and valued.
And when I think of new life, I think of the new life we have in Christ…and therein lies hope and possibilities!

There are over 17,000 species of butterflies in the world. How good of God to give us such beauty and variety. Likewise, how good of God to create humans so wonderfully, yet different…made in His very own image.

Great day yesterday at the Active for Autism 5k Run/Walk!

It was a sweet morning yesterday with students of Sacred Heart of Jesus School!

We talked about the differences in the two characters from my book “What a Gift Different Can Be”.
The students agreed that we can be friends with others that are different from us because we are all wonderfully made by God.

Beautiful butterflies were created by the students…it was a special time at a sweet school. 🦋

It was great meeting some of the teachers and a special thank you to Leah for coordinating the visit.
