My first magazine cover (1st image) came from this shoot with Jacob of Agenda Trading Company / Outdoor goods at his home workspace, that later came out in January of 2017 of DIG Baton Rouge. I also did the interview and wrote the article.
I don’t recall us ever doing any planned cover shoots so it was always a surprise to me when I saw the issue on the stands, especially this first one.

Jacob is quite outdoorsy and so is his branding so we tried to incorporate that in the shoot. He was fairly new in business at the time and it appears he’s still going strong. Congrats man.

I associate my beginnings with photography with the 2016 Baton Rouge flood. I had done one or two assignments for DIG Baton Rouge when the heavy rains came in mid August. We’re coming up on the official 10 year anniversary. Some of these photos were published in the next month’s issue.

Fortunately my house didn’t flood but we were essentially trapped within about a mile radius of our house for a few days so I was limited in what I could get photo wise. After the waters receded some I got out and shot some more of the aftermath and clean up around the city while also helping friends and neighbors move furniture and gut their homes. Wild times.

This month of August marks my 5th year since I started Sean Gasser AND my 10th overall since I began doing paid shoots back for the old print edition of DIG Baton Rouge.

Throughout this month I’ll be sharing some highlights and favorite moments from the past 5-10 years. Then at the end I’ll be doing a giveaway for one of my framed prints. If you share or repost the work that I post then you can enter to win.

The first image was taken in my backyard from 2022. The rest of shots around France that Hollie Gasser took of me that you may not have seen.

One more from the last day in France since I don’t want it to end and I love this first shot and all these photos of Hollie Gasser and don’t want all these to go to stories then disappear after a day.

Day 4 in Provence: Aix-en-Provence

Last full day in Provence.
Winery tour at Chateau Romanin
Visiting nearby town Eygalieres

Let’s talk about the mistral. This chilly north dry wind blows pretty constantly through Provence from the winter to late spring. We got our taste of it - as evidenced of Hollie’s dress in these pictures. It’s interesting how it influences much of the region, enabling the wine, clear blue skies, and in my opinion at least added to the wavy forms of Van Gogh’s late paintings.
