BATON ROUGE – The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair returns October 22 through November 1, with Human Cannonball Tina Miser, Louisiana Snake ID demonstrations, a chili cook-off, musical entertainment, animals galore, and all the great food, fun and tradition that comes with the fair.

The annual event, which has been volunteer-driven since its start in 1965, is also a major community supporter, with all fair proceeds going back to the community – almost $5 million since 1987, following the formation of the Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation.

“People come to the fair for a great time, and we love that. But the fair is so much more,” said GBR State Fair Chairman Cliff Barton, who’s volunteered with the fair for 54 years. “Every ticket, every ride, every funnel cake supports the Greater Baton Rouge area, from high school volunteer scholarships and educational endowments to the Worthy Cause Grants that support nonprofits benefiting children, families and quality of life. We’re proud of that commitment.”
