Pacific Pug Rescue

We have some sad news to share about sweet Nico, one of the pugs that came to us from Tijuana this week.

Nico had been getting treated for tick disease but finally got cleared to come and we were so excited to meet him. We knew he had some dental issues, but sadly once he arrived and saw our vet, we realized he actually had a huge tumor in his mouth that had eaten away most of his jaw. It was clear he was suffering greatly and so we decided to let him go on to his next adventure.

We are of course saddened, that this was not noticed in Mexico so we could have ended his suffering much sooner, but we know he was very loved for the short time we had him under our care.

We are mourning Nico and the life we had planned out for him once he arrived. We wanted him to experience so many things. Fly high sweet Nico

One of the best feelings in rescue is when you post a senior dog and get an application the same day!

At 13 yrs old sweet Tunni still has a lot of s***k left in her. Sure she needed a MAJOR dental, but we made sure to get her feeling like a spring chicken so she could enjoy her remaining years pain free.

Sharla and Tunni are sure to have lots of fun together, which will include a daily leisurely walk through the neighborhood...a must in Tunni's book!

Angela is available for adoption in Portland Oregon

Angela is between 1-2 years old and has a wonderfully puppyish personality. After spending much of her young life as a street dog in Tijuana, she is finally discovering what it means to feel safe, and she is making up for lost time!

Angela was found skin and bones after enduring a very difficult life. She had previously belonged to a homeless woman who abused her and was also suffering from a tick-borne illness that contributed to her malnutrition. It took two months in a foster home in Mexico for her to become strong enough to make the trip to Portland.

Since arriving, Angela has been thriving. She is learning all about life in the PNW and adjusts quickly to new experiences. She is incredibly resilient, very playful, and extremely affectionate. She loves her people and wants to be right in the middle of whatever they are doing. Angela does have some separation anxiety, but we expect that to improve with time and the stability of a permanent home.

Angela would love a home with another playful dog and/or older, dog-savvy kids. She can get very excited and likes to jump up for an enthusiastic “hug,” so she could accidentally knock over a small child.

She is also working on her potty training and learning quickly. After spending so much of her life homeless, she is still figuring out the rules of indoor living. A home with a yard would be ideal, as she is still hesitant to potty while on leash.

Angela has been through a lot, but she hasn’t let it stop her from being a happy, loving, playful little dog. Now she just needs a family who will give her the stability and patience to keep learning how good life can be.

11 month old Chato just arrived to us from Tijuana Mexico and wow he thinks this place is pretty awesome!
We are not completely sure what Chato's life was like in Mexico, but everything seems new to him...stairs, TV, dog beds, toys...just Wow...so much fun!

Chato is very loving to people and he enjoys being around other dogs also. He is full of energy and so excited about his new life. He will need someone who can help him burn up some of his energy and learn some basic skills. He is very smart and has been learning everything very quickly.

Like most dogs from Mexico, potty training has not been something they have been taught, so he will need someone to start with the basics to get him on track. He is great at wearing a belly band and he is also crate trained. He has been catching on fast so with consistency he will do great.

If you are ready to show a wonderful boy what the good life is all about, he is ready to jump in!

Gus is available for adoption in Portland Oregon

Gus is a happy, energetic 2 yr old and he is a bigger pug at 29lbs! He is not fat, just a big boy!

Gus is a kling-on that has no concept of personal space so if you are looking for a shadow that is always down for cuddles and affection this is your guy.

Gus loves to play and would love another playful companion in the home, he also would love kids to play with. He has done very well with potty training and will just need someone to get him on a good schedule and dialed in to a new routine. Gus loves walks and is always down for an adventure. He had his airway surgery, so now his breathing is much improved!

Gus is so easy to fall in love with and whoever adopts him will be so lucky!

Luca is available for adoption in Portland Oregon

If you’re looking for a little pug with a big personality, endless puppy energy, and enough charm to completely steal your heart, Luca may be your guy! Luca came to us from Mexico and is still learning about all that this place has to offer!

Luca is a petite 4-year-old pug who seems to have missed the memo that he’s supposed to be a “grown-up.” He’s playful, mischievous, a little wild, and absolutely adorable. He keeps his foster family laughing with his silly antics and his determined belief that cuddle time should happen whenever he says it’s time for cuddles.

Luca absolutely loves people and greets everyone he meets as a potential new best friend. He’s also wonderfully social with other animals and has been living happily with both dogs and cats in his foster home. He’s the kind of guy who just wants to be part of the action and surrounded by his people.

He’s a great little adventure buddy, too! Luca does wonderfully on walks and rides nicely in the car, so whether you’re headed out for a neighborhood stroll or a road-trip adventure, he’s ready to come along.

Luca is still working on his potty training, so his future family will need to be patient and consistent while he continues learning. Other than that, his foster family hasn’t seen any behavioral concerns. He’s simply a fun-loving, energetic little pug who sometimes has a little more enthusiasm than he knows what to do with!

Luca would make a wonderful companion for just about any home that is ready and willing to give him the patience, structure, and affection he deserves.

We have another delivery of precious cargo coming next week from Mexico!

These sweet babies have been patiently waiting to make their way to their new lives and we cannot wait to meet them!

Beatriz is a 5 yr old girl found with a broken femur and pelvis. She has had her surgery and recovered and we hear she is the sweetest girl EVER!

Elena is the mom to the puppies, she is young and energetic and very happy!

Nico is the old man of the group. He is about 8 yrs old and a very loving sweet boy. We hear he has some serious dental issues that will need to be taken care of.

Dante, Leo and Nala are 3 puppies born in early July.
