Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we typically serve warm meals two nights a week at our drop-in centers. But other days, youth rely on our food pantry for what be their only meal, or maybe something quick to grab and go.

Right now, our pantry is running empty.

This Saturday, you can help us restock while you shop. Hillsboro United Mutual Aid Network is hosting a food drive at Hillsboro Grocery Outlet on 1st Ave from 11-4pm. Buy or bring easy-to-heat, non-perishable items for the youth we serve 💜

Meet Jeff, a Beaverton resident, Home Team member, and director at large of Evergreen Curling Club. We recently sat down with him and his wife at Mutts Coffee to learn more about why they support HomePlate.

Jeff originally spotted us from across the street at his dentist in 2022. He and his wife started giving after learning more, and became monthly donors in 2024. Jeff has lived in Beaverton for decades, and spent his career teaching in Beaverton schools.

He knows what it looks like when a young person puts on a happy face all day, and he knows school is sometimes the safest place in their life. One thing he likes about HomePlate is that there is another safe place for youth to go, right down the road from his curling club.

His advice on monthly giving? Give at a level that feels comfortable for you, and trust that every amount adds up to something that truly matters.

Sharing a huge thank you here for Jen Fife-Adams, who ran Planting Seeds until its closure this year. Planting Seeds raised over $100k for marginalized students, provided 10,000+ meals, stocked Title 1 libraries with books, and helped local kids get backpacks of food for weekends and breaks.

In one last act of generosity, they chose to donate their remaining funds to HomePlate. We are beyond grateful and will make sure these dollars keep doing exactly what Planting Seeds always did: meeting real needs for young people in our community.
