Seattle Humane's mission is to create a kinder world for pets and their people through impactful programs and support services.
Founded in 1897, Seattle Humane proudly promotes the human-animal bond by saving and serving pets in need. We are more than a shelter – Seattle Humane is a pet resource center for the region, providing adoption services, a pet food bank and support for pet owners, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and wellness exams, humane education for all ages and more. All made possible through the support of a generous community. To see our adoptable pets and business hours, visit www.SeattleHumane.org.

We were happy to lend a paw to our shelter partners at the Kauai Humane Society this week by welcoming 36 dogs and cats while they respond to the aftermath of Hurricane Lowell.
Thanks to our friends at Alaska Airlines the pets made the journey across the ocean to Seattle. By taking in animals who were already in shelters before a disaster, we help create space for our partners to care for pets displaced from their homes.
A handful of Kauai arrivals have already been adopted, but many are still available or will be soon! If you visit the shelter, you’ll see a sticker on their kennel cards indicating which pets made the journey from Hawaii.
We’re so thankful for our community, whose support makes it possible for Seattle Humane to help our shelter partners across the country.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to adopt, this might be it! Come meet these adorable dogs and cats who flew across the ocean in search of loving homes.

In honor of National Black Dog Day, we’d like to highlight Porsche! She’s been with Seattle Humane since February, coming in on a transfer from California.
She’s never seen a game of fetch she doesn’t want to play, and she’ll bring the ball back to you every time if you keep throwing it for her. Porsche has a very active nose on walks, and will sit for as many pets as she can get.
Porsche wants to be the star of the show, and would be the best fit in a home where she can comfortably and steadily acclimate to her new neighborhood. If these adorable pictures aren’t enough, Porsche’s new family can name their own adoption fee!

A look back at an incredible campaign filled with community, creativity, and a lifesaving message.
Thank you to all of our amazing partners for helping us spread the word about the importance of blood donation across the PNW!

Diabetic queens deserve love too! Sharkie is an eight-year-old who came to us in mid-August from a local shelter partner. She loves affection and cuddles, as well as enjoying some television.
If you’ve got the patience to care for Sharkie’s medical needs, come meet her at Seattle Humane!

We had 113 dogs and cats find their new homes over the past week, but we wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who interacted with or shared our post about Maxine. Exactly a year after she first came into our building, Maxine got to go home with her new family!
So many Seattle Humane staff and volunteers contributed to caring for Maxine during her year with us, and we are so appreciative of all their efforts. We have no shortage of other beautiful dogs, cats and critters available, so come visit us this week to find a new best friend 🐾
