We have food desert problems here in Bellingham. Between Walmart and the Safeway-Albertsons-Haggen mergers and acquisitions, our food choice, quality, health, prices and access are failing. Dollar stores make this worse. With dollar stores continuing to multiply at breakneck pace, communities across the country are grappling with the fallout, and a growing number of citizen groups and local officials are rising to turn them away....
