Help us fill our shelves with books for our youngest patients in celebration of Community Health Center Week!

Drop off gently used children’s books for ages 0-5 at our Unity Street or Portal Way health centers.

Stop by from 8am - 5Ppm any weekday this week (August 3-7).

We are proud partners with Reach Out and Read , helping to get books to kids and families.

A man came in week after week, mentioning pain he couldn't shake.

Staff got him seen. A provider sent him to the ER. A Community Health Worker went with him and stayed until he got the help he needed.

That's the kind of care The Way Station was built to provide.

As part of our partnership with Reach Out and Read we make sure to have books in our waiting rooms for young patients to take home for free and you can help us fill our shelves!

After six years leading Unity Care NW, CEO Jodi Joyce has retired.

More patients served. More partners at the table. A new facility that's already changed nearly 1,400 lives.

This recognition belongs to our whole team. Whether they’re behind the scenes or face-to-face with the people we serve, each staff member’s presence in our health centers makes a difference. 1 in 10 Whatcom County residents rely on their work to access life-changing care.

It’s and to acknowledge this important day we are recognizing our local hospital – PeaceHealth St. Joseph . Longtime partners and Community Health Care Champion Sponsors, they provide major medical services, run the Emergency Department, and provide support through their Community Impact Investments to local nonprofits. With more than 72,000 Emergency Department visits per year in Whatcom County, their team provides crucial medical care. Thank you, PeaceHealth, for your work and happy National Hospital Day!

Our Extend-A-Hand program ensures that medications are affordable and accessible when they are needed most. Thank you to Whatcom Community Foundation, Chuckanut Health Foundation, North Sound ACH, and so many local individuals who have recently helped to support this crucial program. The Bellingham Herald and Opportunity Council have also been longtime supporters in spreading the word about this program. And, thanks to United Way of Whatcom County for sharing info on ALICE, shining a light on the financial struggles of so many of our friends and neighbors in Whatcom County.

The Extend-A-Hand program at Unity Care NW is a safety net for when everything else has been exhausted. When a patient is unable to afford their prescriptions, UCNW's team works with them through every available option first. The program also helps patients who are between insurances or need a one-time prescription that their plan won't cover.

Ongoing stress can cause tension or tightness in your muscles and joints which increase aches and pains in your body, like headaches, muscle pain, and back pain. For National Stress Awareness month this April we are highlighting one of our Health Care Champion Sponsors, Community Health Plan of Washington and sharing their tips for managing the pain of stress. Such a good point Reach Out and Read! We are proud to be a participant in this program, providing new books to kids at their Well Child Check appointments and helping parents learn skills and tips for reading to their kids.
