Meet Carmen! 🐾
Looking for a shadow, a cuddle buddy, and a best friend who thinks you're the center of the universe? Carmen is ready to apply for the position. ❀️
At 9 weeks old and about 10 lbs, this adorable caramel-colored boy is searching for his forever family. While his breed mix is a mystery, we expect him to grow into a medium-sized dog somewhere between 30-60 lbs.
Carmen and his siblings had a heartbreaking start to life. Rescued from neglect in Beverly, WA, they arrived in foster care sick, underweight, and unsure of the world around them. Since then, Carmen has blossomed into a happy, healthy puppy who has discovered that people are pretty wonderful.
This sweet boy's greatest wish? To be wherever YOU are.
Carmen is a sensitive, affectionate little soul who loves people, adores children, and would gladly spend every waking moment by your side. If you leave the room, don't be surprised if he lets you know he misses you. He is convinced that companionship is life's greatest treasure, and honestly, he's not wrong. πŸ₯Ή
✨ Carmen's favorite things: 🐢 Following his humans everywhere
🐾 Playing and wrestling with his siblings
πŸ›‹οΈ Snuggling on the couch
🧦 "Borrowing" socks and shoes
🎾 Toys, treats, and praise
❀️ Making new friends
Carmen is smart, eager to learn, and doing great with litter training. He's curious, energetic, and always ready for the next adventure. Like any puppy, he's also an enthusiastic chewer who believes every object deserves a thorough taste test. He's especially talented at finding anything you forgot to puppy-proof! πŸ˜†
Because he forms strong bonds with his people, Carmen would thrive with someone who works from home, is retired, or otherwise has plenty of time to spend with him. A canine sibling would be a bonus, but his dream home is one filled with love, attention, and lots of snuggles.
As with all puppies, he's still learning manners, managing excitement, and navigating life with a mouth full of tiny puppy teeth. With consistency, training, and patience, he's going to make an incredible companion.
πŸ’™ This sweet caramel boy is waiting to find the love of his life. Could it be you?

Looking for a cat to claim you? Well look no further than beautiful 7 year old Myrtle! Myrtle is a voluptuous girl with a stunning face and green eyes. She loves people, so much so that she wants her scent all over your face and she can't get close enough to you. Myrtle is intense with her love and is a people's cat.

Myrtle lives for attention and will smother you with love, even giving you love bites. She is very chatty and is a cat you can have conversations with. She enjoys lounging on a window perch and sun bathing. If you make eye contact with her she will be right there to receive any love she can.

She does not, however, like other cats. She is very territorial and gets fixated on them which makes her anxious. Even the sight of other cats stresses her out. She is also very picky with food. She has a sensitive stomach and can only eat really small amounts of wet food, gradually given over time. Otherwise, she eats dry food just fine but hasn't found one that she really loves yet. She will most likely have a better appetite when she is an only cat. She may also need a bigger high sided box or large covered cat box. She has no issues using a litter box but can be on the messy side with litter.

Myrtle would thrive in a nice quiet home with no other cats where she can be the center of attention. She seems to do fine with the small resident dog. Myrtle would do best in a home with either no children, or older children that understand love-bites, so likely tweens and older would be the best fit. If you are a patient, experienced cat person looking for a solo cat companion, Myrtle would love to meet you!

All of our cats come spayed or neutered, microchipped, and with age-appropriate vaccinations. Adult cats have an adoption fee of $150. If you would like to apply to be a forever home for this cat, please fill out a statement of interest at www.alternativehumanesociety.com. Unless otherwise indicated, all our cats and kittens are best suited for indoor-only life.

Meet Bella! 🐾
If you're looking for a gentle soul with a heart full of love, Bella might just be your perfect match. πŸ’•
At 9 weeks old and 15 lbs, this sweet girl is searching for a forever family to call her own. While her breed mix is a mystery, we expect her to grow into a medium-to-large dog, likely somewhere between 40-60 lbs.
Bella and her siblings had a difficult beginning. Rescued from neglect in Beverly, WA, they arrived in foster care underweight, sick, and unsure of the world around them. Since then, Bella has blossomed into a happy, healthy puppy who is learning that life can be safe, fun, and full of love. ❀️
Known affectionately as "Belly," she's the laid-back snuggle bug of the bunch. She loves meeting new people, adores children, and would be perfectly content spending her day following her favorite humans from room to room.
✨ Bella's favorite things: 🐾 Cuddling on the couch
πŸ‘§ Kids and people of all ages
🐢 Making dog friends
🦴 Treats and praise
🎾 Wrestling with her siblings
❀️ Being close to her people
Bella is litter trained, smart, and eager to learn. She's motivated by treats and affection, making her a great candidate for continued training. While she can be a little shy around new dogs and unfamiliar situations, once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through.
She absolutely adores her foster family's older female dog and is respectful of canine boundaries, something her foster mom says can't always be said for her brothers! πŸ˜†
Bella would thrive in a home with another friendly dog, but she'd also be happy with someone who works from home, is retired, or simply has plenty of time to spend with her.
Like all puppies, Bella is still teething and learning good manners. She can be a little mouthy when excited and enjoys chewing on just about anything she can find, but she redirects well to appropriate toys and is eager to learn.
And one of her foster family's favorite quirks? Bella occasionally sees her reflection in a mirror and barks at that mysterious puppy staring back at her. πŸ₯Ή
With love, patience, and training, Bella has all the makings of an incredible family companion.
πŸ’™ Could Bella be the missing piece of your family?

Emmett is a sweet and lovable black Labrador Retriever and American Pitbull mix. He loves squeaky toys, any affection from anyone, especially belly rubs, going everywhere with you, wearing cute outfits and sniffing his surroundings. He is pretty easy going when it comes to exercise and only needs about an hour a day.
If you’re more active he can tolerate maybe 2 long walks/ play sessions a day. He’s a lazy boy at heart and takes naps easily.
He is between 4-5 years old as he was found as a stray 2 years ago, we don’t know his exact age. Emmett weighs in at about 70 lbs.
He has passed basic obedience training and walks well with his commands. He’s easy to bathe and keep clean. He is very smart and food motivated to learn new tricks or behaviors you want him to learn! He is very good being left alone at home and understands hard boundaries if you set them.

Emmett is kennel trained, potty trained, up to date on his vaccines, neutered and dog friendly. He enjoys playing with his friends at the dog park and has fun running around and socializing with other dogs. While he is not currently in a foster home with another dog, he may be able to live in a home with another dog if introduced correctly. He has a history of being protective of high value bones so feeding special treats in his kennel with another dog in the home is best for his success.

He has a history of abuse so he can get a bit anxious around a lot of change but he is very brave and will communicate with you. He just wants love!

Please fill out a Statement of Interest for Emmett if you would like to meet him!

Mira is a one-and-a-half-year-old Tuxedo cat with a personality as bold as his markings. Thanks to his absolute love for his exercise wheel, he has a very slender, athletic build. He sports several distinct markings, including unique patterns around his eyes that make it look like he’s wearing mascara.

Brimming with energy, he seems to take his life inspiration from Jim Carrey movies, channeling that comedic, high-octane spirit into everything he does. If you call his name, he will gladly "yell" back and forth with you, often following up the conversation by hiding behind a wall to play peek-a-boo. Occasionally, he’ll drift into a "thousand-yard stare," looking completely perplexed by the mysteries of the world around him.

Mira has some gastrointestinal sensitivities that require special care. We have successfully managed these with a specific diet, which will need to be maintained in his new home.

He has a habit of chewing on plastic; while he doesn't seem to swallow it, his adopters should keep an eye on him to keep him safe. Mira is very intelligent and can be very persistent when he sets his mind to get something he wants!

The best home for Mira would be one that is patient and affectionate. While he is a loving boy, his high energy makes him a bit of a handful! He would excel in a home with plenty of enrichment opportunities to keep him occupied and keep his mind sharp. He can be shy around new people and may get spooked and hide initially, so he needs a family that will let him settle in at his own pace. Mira is currently in a household with other cats and does very well with them. He has lived with dogs and children, though watch him closely, as he can become impatient with too much stimulation and may try to scratch. Mira loves to snuggle right next to his person at bedtime, but he’s not a bed hog. Just a very sweet boy.

All of our cats come spayed or neutered, microchipped, and with age-appropriate vaccinations. Young cats have an adoption fee of $175.

πŸƒπŸŒΏ Meet Leaf, Iris & Chive! πŸŒΏπŸƒ

(Pictured in order)

Three adorable 3-month-old tuxedo kittens are ready to find their forever homes!

πŸƒ Leaf is a neutered little chaos agent with a heart of gold! Curious, fearless, and always on the move, he believes every toy is an adventure waiting to happen. After a day of zoomies and mischief, he’s happiest curled up in your lap for cuddles. Leaf would thrive in an active indoor home with another cat or cat-friendly dog to keep him company.

🏁 Iris is a sweet spayed girl with the cutest little racing stripe down her forehead. Playful, affectionate, and full of purrs, she loves exploring, chasing toys, and snuggling after a busy day. She’d love a strictly indoor home with another feline or cat-friendly dog, and would likely do well with gentle, cat-savvy children.

πŸ’š Chive is the ultimate mama’s boy and professional cuddler. This handsome boy balances playful adventures with frequent cuddle breaks, happily curling up on a warm lap or chest to purr himself to sleep. His striking tuxedo coat has subtle gray striping that makes him extra special. Chive would love an indoor home with another cat or cat-friendly dog and would likely enjoy gentle children.
