Meet Capacity team member David Bergstrom! 👋

David has been part of the Capacity team since 2025. Originally from Minnesota, he competed as a Division I tennis player at the University of North Dakota before earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2020. Over the past six years, he’s worked with athletes of all ages, with a special interest in helping tennis and pickleball players recover from injury and perform at their best.

David takes a holistic approach to physical therapy, combining hands-on manual therapy with strength and conditioning to help every patient reach their goals- whether that’s getting back to their sport or simply moving pain-free.

When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll find David playing tennis, mountain biking, trail running with his dogs, and exploring Central Oregon.

Think David might be the right fit for you? Book a Discovery Call or get on his schedule today!

Huge congratulations to longtime Capacity patient, Maya, on an incredible performance at the High Cascades 100! 🚵‍♀️

Maya battled hot, dusty conditions and one of the toughest HC100 courses in years to win her age group and finish 2nd overall in the women’s race with an impressive time of 9:43:14 over 100 miles.

We’ve had the privilege of helping Maya overcome persistent back and neck pain following a serious racing crash 11 years ago. Seeing her compete at this level with significantly less pain is exactly why we love what we do.

Congratulations, Maya! The entire Capacity team is so proud of you! 👏

Years of dedication. Countless training hours. One unforgettable result. 🏆

Congratulations to Paula Findlay on winning IRONMAN Lake Placid in her full-distance debut.

Behind every race day result are the early mornings, long training blocks, relentless consistency, and the willingness to keep showing up day after day. Paula’s commitment to her craft is second to none, and this result is a reflection of the work she has put in for years.

We are incredibly proud to be a small part of her journey and honored that she trusts Capacity with her PT. Watching athletes like Paula chase big goals and accomplish something so special is why we do what we do.

Enjoy this one, Paula. You’ve earned every second of it!

✨ Next up as we continue to reintroduce the Capacity team… meet (or re-meet!) Aleksey Lavrinenko.

Aleksey has been with Capacity for nearly two years, bringing extensive experience in helping active individuals get back to doing what they love.

Originally from Ohio, Aleksey earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Ohio University after completing his undergraduate degree in psychology at Kent State. His passion for movement started early, spending time in a running gait mechanics research lab studying how physical therapy interventions, footwear, and other factors influence running performance.

After residency, he helped establish a clinic in Eugene that partnered with University of Oregon Track & Field athletes and Nike professional runners while serving the active Eugene community. He later completed advanced training to become both a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist and a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.

As a runner, cyclist, CrossFitter, mountain biker, snowboarder, and former CrossFit coach himself, Aleksey understands firsthand what it takes to stay active and perform at your best.

When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll find him enjoying all that Central Oregon has to offer with his wife, Michaela, their daughter Mia, and their Siberian Husky, Kira. 🐾

Does Aleksey sound like the right fit for you? We’d love to help you get back to the activities you love- get on his schedule today!

Huge congratulations to Capacity’s own Lindsey Hagen for an incredible performance at the Mt. Hood 50 Miler, finishing in 2nd place last weekend! 🥈

After recently working through a knee injury, we’re so happy to see Lindsey back out on the trails and competing. It’s also a great reminder that even physical therapists need physical therapy sometimes. Asking for help, trusting the process, and putting in the work are all part of getting back to doing what you love.

The work doesn’t stop here though. Next up is a 100-mile race next week.

We’re so proud of you, Lindsey, and can’t wait to watch you take on your next challenge. Help us wish her luck as she heads into race week!

We’ve had some new faces around here lately, so it’s time for a reintroduction to our staff! 👋

We’re starting with Kate Holmer, DPT!

Originally from Iowa, Kate has been an athlete her entire life. After tearing her ACL in high school, her journey took an unexpected turn. She first earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Northern Iowa, studying classical French horn and bass with an emphasis in jazz. 🎶

Years later, she returned to school to pursue physical therapy, earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 2017.

Although her doctoral focus was in orthopedics and sports, Kate quickly discovered a passion for pelvic health and has since completed extensive training in pelvic floor physical therapy. She specializes in working with athletes, pregnant and postpartum individuals, and also offers bike fitting services to help cyclists ride more comfortably, efficiently, and with less pain.

When she’s not in the clinic, you can find Kate climbing, mountain biking, playing in a local ice hockey league, lifting, or chasing after her toddler. 🏔️🏒🚵‍♀️

Kate has been part of the Capacity team since 2024, and we’re so grateful for the knowledge, compassion, and energy she brings to our community.

This one is all about building the foundation.

The Bottom-Up Drill helps improve core stability, quad strength, and length/tension control through the back of the leg which are key pieces for running, lifting, and staying resilient under load.

Simple movement, big carryover.

2x15 reps and focus on control over speed.

Want to see how it’s done?

Low back pain in runners is not uncommon.

One of the most common mistakes we see is treating the spot that hurts instead of finding why it hurts. For runners, low back pain can be influenced by everything from hip strength and core control to running mechanics and how your body transfers force with every stride.

Save this post for your next strength session and give these exercises a try!
